Darren, really need a bit more information. How long is it taking to overheat and in what conditions - stationary or driving. Whats the water / antifreeze mix colour like - is it a muddy brown in which case the system may be full of sludge and need a thorough flushing out. What type of rad are you u...

Michael, 3 inches sounds like quite a lot off the sump and will have an effect on the baffling in the sump. I had problems with clearance on my Minor and I cut about 1 inch off my sump and modded the oil pick up. Due to the shape of the sump this lost me about half a pint in capacity. By squaring th...

The reason that I said this was my first and unlikely foray into concours is that I am one of the dreaded modders. My car is far from standard any more and certainly not in the concours league. Its only because the car was bought new by my parents that I can add anything, as I've known the car from ...

Wow never thought I reply on the Concours forum and in fact this is my first ever foray on to this forum. Anyway, though a later 1966 model my Morris came fitted with a radio from new. It was a deluxe model with overriders and a motorola radio. It also came in black which was a special order colour ...

I believe that at least some, probably the newer ford type kits, use preloaded bearings which is why you do not need to torque up the centre nut and doing so will result in premature wear of the bearings. Whereas the original Morris type wheel bearing requires the nut to be torqued to the correct va...

Hi, I had a big set of scary sharks teeth and eyes painted over the front of my moggy at one time, bit like the Flying Tigers emblem. Stretched from the side of the bonnet right over the front grille, it was very noticeable. Sadly it is no more, maybe in the future I might put it back...... I have p...

Sorry I completely disagree that the wheel nuts and studs align the wheels. If you run the wheels without them centering on the hubs ?stub? then you are placing all the strain especially during cornering on the wheel studs and this is not a good idea. Just because you have spacers doesn't mean you c...

Just to have my say and echo what most have already said about the original thread. Definitely the centre bore needs to be correct as it aligns the wheel properly, the wheel nuts just hold it on. You need to ensure the wheel nuts have the right taper or they can undo themselves. As stated studs need...

dp, both the inlet and outlet cams are GC3A, although I know you can get good results running just the inlet with a high lift profile. GC recommended this and I tried it for a year or so, while I saved up, with a high lift Alquati cam on the inlet and a standard cam on the exhaust the results were g...

Jonathan, have sent a PM with my email address - most grateful for picys. Jim, in order to strengthen the sills I cut out the bit with the round holes in and replaced it with a solid plate that was slightly thicker, making sure it was welded on to the front door post and the centre pillar. But you n...

Jim, I've got a 4 door with the FIAT twin cam currently pushing out about 170 BHP with similar torque and although it is now having considerable welding work done (due to age mostly rather than fatigue) the chassis handled the power very well. You shouldn't feel the floor moving, I used to get a bit...

Hi, I think the lack of information of people doing this indicates how easy it is. Just sticking a bigger engine, gearbox and axle in any car is never just that. Firstly you need to think, is the Capri engine suitable or is it just a heavyweight lump with marginal power increase that'll nosedive a M...

Hi, I have the 100% uprated bars on my Morris with gas tele dampers and an anti roll bar and they have been very good, but then the car is generally uprated/modified and they suit the purpose. It depends on what you want to achieve? On a reasonably standard car I'm not sure they add much. You could ...
