Kevin,
I know what you mean. Despite many years of modification I can still remember the old raspberry sound sitting in the back of, what is now my, Minor being driven to Wales on holiday by my parents.

Hi,
it's got to be the weber, never mind practicality who can fail to enjoy the intake roar from a decent DCOE weber carb. In fact it's so good have a pair. Plus they look better too when you lift the bonnet.

Hi, I had a 1275 midget gearbox and it was exactly the same in terms of fitting and dimensions - no mods required that I can remember. The only mod I can remember making was when I fitted a 1300cc engine and had to drill out the top locator hole. The problem you will have is finding one and it will ...

Hi, I fitted a rear traveller bumper to the rear of a '69 2 door once, it wasn't a problem and didn't interfere with the boot opening. Just looked a bit funny with the number plate blank in the middle and no curvature round the boot. It was some time back but I don't remember having to make any majo...

Hi, if you are able to find one I think you'll find that the 1.3 escort back axle has smaller drum brakes than the 1.6, though this might only have been the Ghia version. Also just be careful with the Sierra box because the diesel and 2.8, 2.9 and V6 models had a long input shaft about 8.1 inches fr...

Hi, there are lots of threads on different engines already so a quick search might be worthwhile. Basically no engine goes straight in. The easiest would be a 1300 A series (Ital / Marina), you could use the existing gearbox but you'll find it a little whiny. Next is probably the FIAT twin cam 1600,...

Hi, I don't totally agree that more BHP, or actually as Jonathan says Torque, is not more fun. Yes there is always something faster but my Moggy puts out 160HP and I still find it fantastic fun. That doesn't mean I drive round foot on the floor all the time (can't afford the fuel bill for starters) ...

Hi,
the radio was fitted on the drivers side underneath the glove box, above the front parcel shelf and it was a Motorola. It's not there any more - Sony has taken its place.

Hi, if you only!!!!! want 140 BHP!!!!! then you will be pushing an A series really hard. Even a FIAT twin cam needs some reasonable tuning mods to get it up to this figure (they start around 105 - 115 BHP) depending on which model you get, some are better than this. But in both cases you are talking...

Hi,
you also could get a radio fitted with the deluxe model and special order black as a colour (that was in 1966). Mine was a deluxe bought brand new by my parents. Along with the heater, overriders, front parcel shelf with ash trays and a red / cream interior.

Cheers,

Julian, your post doesn't say where you are but if you are anywhere near Jct 1A on the M40 or Jct 16 on the M25 I have a twin cam in my minor and you are welcome to see it for guidance and I can tell you what I know. Alternatively if you want to have a chat on the phone send me a private note. Also ...

Hi, I would just like to add that I have recently removed the servo from my Morris, and good riddance to it forever, because ever since it's been in it has been a real pain. I added a servo to my Moggy because I was uprating the engine and thought it would be a useful addition. I've now been through...

Martin, thanks for that I'll re-investigate the product bottles to see what they are. If you do remember the product name that would be great as I'd rather use something that's been proved OK already. Ray, the wires with spinners do look great, they're on my Spitfire rather than the Morris, though o...

Cleaning Wire Wheels

Hi, anyone got any quick and easy ideas / ways for cleaning wire wheels? Unfortunately mine are chromed with chrome spinners and all the spray on and wash off wheel cleaning products, I've seen, don't recommend for use on chrome so I'd rather not try them. Otherwise I've been using an old toothbrush...

Colin, just swapping the wires round to make the fan run the other way isn't a good idea. The fan will be, as Gareth says, either a blower or a sucker and the fan blades will be shaped accordingly to give the best performance for the type of fan. If you have bought the fan new the instructions shoul...

Dennis,
if it's any encouragement I have a Grumpy's anti roll bar on my twin cam minor and it's fine. Admittedly I have modified it a bit because I don't use the standard mounting for the engine. But it does the job.
