Re: Large bore exhaust

I have an lcb manifold. I've now managed to get it all apart in the correct places and have ordered a new front section :)

Re: Large bore exhaust

If I do just replace the front section how do I go about separating it from the back section? They've obviously been connected for a long time!

P.S. I'm at my student address so very limited on tools!

Re: Large bore exhaust

actually I'm looking into the birmingham mmc option now thanks Rich, it may sound silly but is it ok to add a mild steel section into the stainless system?

Re: Large bore exhaust

By the way I can't weld so whatever I do its going to cost to get it sorted out, my main worry is that this is the second time it has snapped and in a different place so I just fear that the whole thing is just too brittle and wonder if I get it welded up how long will it be before another part fail...

Large bore exhaust

My 1275 has a large bore exhaust system fitted and has done since i've owned it, this is however rather brittle and has already snapped twice so needs replacing. How much does the large bore affect the performance? would the midget engine just be suffocated with a standard exhaust? the reason I ask ...

Re: Spluttering at speed

I found a spare condenser today and changed it, went for a quick run and it hit 70 easily on the dual carriageway with no troubles. I hope thats the problem cured, I'll have to see if it's still ok on a long run as it seemed to get worse on long journeys before. Out of interest, how does a dodgy con...

Spluttering at speed

Hi, I was driving down the motorway the other day when the car started to splutter and jerk, it continued running and got me to my destination but any speed above about 40 it was very jerky, it seemed to run fine afterwards for a lowspeed run to the shops though, I know that the timing chain rattles...

Thanks for the reply dp :) but I managed to find the clips in the end (of course I wasn't looking for them at the time ;) ) so I've now got the lining fitted[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1316869181_6735 [/frame] There are still a few creases that need ironing out so I'll have a go at ti...

Re: Can switch wipers OFF... help!

Have you just fitted the wiper motor? It may sound silly but have you managed to accidently wire it up to the fuel pump wire? (the white one) It comes out of the loom at the same point as the wiper wires and works continuously on ignition Fin, it is earthed to the 'E' terminal on the voltage regulat...

Re: 'Lift the dot' rear seat fastening

If the popper i found on my '61 was the original it came off very easily as it just glued on.
Interestingly though i've just found the early style pin as shown in Dean's photos fitted on the backshelf of my '63!

Re: 'Lift the dot' rear seat fastening

Great, thanks, and thanks Dean for the photos. I had a look at our 57 4-door and noticed the pin is still on the back shelf but it is missing the actual strap from the seat. Was the sort inside the boot on the slightly later cars more of a normal coat fastening popper? as i found one loose in the ca...

'Lift the dot' rear seat fastening

My 1961 2-door came with later seats when I bought it, the rear seat was fastnened back with the later style wingbolts but apparently up until late 1961 they had a 'lift the dot' method to attach, pre-57 was on the rear shelf and up to 61 was in the boot. Has anyone got a photo of this?

Thanks :)

Now getting on with fitting the roof lining.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1316262709_6735 [/frame] Here's the old yellowed one I removed last year compared to the new one about to be fitted, 50 years above the driver's head probably exposed to a lot of tobacco smoke has certainly affect...

Re: 1961 2-door saloon (Sidney)

Today I fitted the wing piping, I didn't expect that I'd be able to find a matching colour so was going to use contrasting black but it turns out that the grey piping I picked up at the national a few years ago is actually an almost perfect match :D[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=13161188...

Re: Dutone newton commercial seats

Smart, Sidney! I might just give that a shot sometime. Mog's seats are non-standard, but close enough. Ben -- Newton does do the correct duotone (I think I'm interpreting this correctly), but they don't do NON-duotone seats. No, they do. Andy is just being abit of an anorak, non delux should have p...

Re: Dutone newton commercial seats

It shouldn't be too hard to do, I'd never follow the 'easier to pay somebody...' method it's so much more rewarding, satisfying and of course kind on the wallet to have a go at things yourself, I've tried my best to have a go at literally everything on my car. If you're doing standard style seats in...
