1950 MM with Alta Head for sale

This is one of the hardest messages I have had to write.
My 1950 Morris Minor Series MM Tourer is for sale.

The details are in the For Sale section of the regular MMOC forum.

Re: sill covers

The bolts are easy to get at - from under the car :P
If they're like mine you will want new ones. Sometimes there are a couple of screws through the corners of the sill cover from inside the car but you will have seen those.

Re: Front Wheel Bearings

Hi Andy,
I find that Australia is one of the best places to find Morris parts, and I'm in Canada! I will send you a PM (private message) on this board with the name and email of the man who has never failed me, even on rare parts.

Re: Battery isolator

I do have a battery cut-off switch in my 1950 MM. Last October I parked the car and turned off the switch. On 15 March I turned it back on and started the engine a few seconds later. I have been treating batteries like this for years and never had a problem. One good run is all it needs to be fully ...

Checked spark in dizzy again with ignition on and noticed that the plastic washer on connections had melted and was glowing, smelt of burning too... Thanks  Melted plastic and hot wires speaks of a dead short to ground somewhere. I'd be re-examining recent work to see what has slipped, probabl...

I am desolate! My missus and I have a trip planned to UK but we could not get the dates to work with that weekend. We will be in Norfolk the weekend prior but at the time of the rally we'll be on a minibus in the Orkneys. Bu99er!

[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1331849588_3580 [/frame] Length of shank = 1 7/8in + thread. Diameter to fit hole. Cut out to fit dist. shaft. If making new pinch bolt I would recommend a larger diameter thread to fit 9/16 A/F nut to reduse possibility of stripping or snapping threaded p...

Re: Advice please - wrong speedo over reading

I know well the task you had to swap the face on your speedo. I would find a measured mile or follow a modern with a known good speedo to check the accuracy of the odometer. While you're at it check the speedo at some speed that you are likely to drive a lot. (40MPH, 50 MPH?) If it is measuring the ...

Congratulations Oliver from a Canadian MM owner. Mine was not originally a low light but the first owner bought some earlier parts and customized the car. The low lights serve now as turn signals.

Re: For $27,000 I'd like my carbs polished, thank you.

All of the "nits" that were picked are fair observations. I'm well familiar with the specs of Mogs sold on this side of the Atlantic and they were not much different from UK specs. This car was not what I would call restored, rather it was done up to appeal to an uninformed driver who want...

Re: MM fuel tank

You'd best siphon out as much fuel as you can before you begin or you may get a bath :-).

Actually it's probably worth removing the tank completely and having it profe$$ionally cleaned.

Hello Tim, In your original post you mention how few of the early MM tourers, particularly LHD, remain. I would be very interested to know what your research sources are. I too have a 1950 MM tourer with left hand drive and a friend who lives about twenty miles away has just restored another. It had...

Re: MM fuel tank

I had that problem once with a car that had been left in a barn for over twenty years. The fix was messy, smelly and time consuming. I disconnected the fuel line at the tank and worked a stiff piece of wire up into the opening to ream out the hardened, varnish-like mess that was blocking it. Everyth...

Re: New Real quick tire question (need advice quickly)

Greetings Rob, The pictures and story on your other post reveal that not only are those tires at least ten years old but they are also the wrong size. They appear to be 5.60X14 bias ply, am I right? The worst part is their age; they're dangerous! Now, as charlie_morris_minor has pointed out, the Fir...

Re: Sidevalve that won't co-operate.

Hello Oliver, If the engine is idling much too fast it is certainly getting a supply of air that is not controlled by the throttles (assuming you have followed the other suggestions and you know the throttles close properly). This suggests an air leak into the inlet system and I see something in thi...

Re: An 1951 MM LHD, stripped, with a minimum on rust

I'm not aware that any of the MMs had windshield washers, only aftermarket kits. I know there is none on my 1950. If you intend to drive it much leave the one you have there, if you want it authentic you should probably remove it completely.
