Re: Service Spreadsheet
If a car only does a few hundred miles a year, how often should the oils be changed? Does the oil degrade and does the filter element go off? (swell up or something?) I'd second BMC's 3000 mile service schedule, but if you don't reach that, then do it once every 6 months. Oil does degrade over time...

Re: Rust found on inner rear 'humps' — advice needed, please!
Good to see some progress being made. I have the same story, the same firm welded patches over the rear wheel arches, not cutting out the old rotten metal first. Obviously the old metal just carries on rusting until it spreads to the new. I had it repaired by a chap in Dorset. Had RTG Services been ...

Re: traveller rear door hinges
I asked a supplier this question recently, they were of the opinion that the casting marks don't actually mark L & R, even though some will have an L stamped on them somewhere. They thought that it doesn't matter really, which I am inclined to believe, since there is so much adjustment anyway. I...

Re: SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR CONTEST - WINNER
Late to the party as always.......my votes are: Workmanship : RTGServices in Bristol, and Roy's Welding in Dorset. Parts :I like to spread the love, I use ESM, BM & MMC Brum mainly. Have used DSN & MGM once or twice, & Newton Commercial seats take a spanking! If I had to choose a favouri...

Re: Rust found on inner rear 'humps' — advice needed, please!
I notice in other threads that we are "allowed" to say that such and such a fuel pump is better than another for example, but this isn't appropriate about a restorer / garage? Kind of seems odd to me. In another thread which I read recently on this board, a major supplier was mentioned di...

Having just had a small welding job done by RTGservices, I can recommend him from personal experience.......bmcecosse wrote:I told you Russel would be good - just for my information - could you please PM me the name of the 'garage' ?? I see it has mysteriously been blanked out in the original post!

Re: Trunnions - a warning!!!
Yep, commiserations. It's happened twice to me, once on the way to college. I vividly remember the front of a Shell tanker getting bigger & bigger & BIGGER ....driver got out and said "we nearly met!" Usually as someone said it happens at low speed going round some sort of bend. I ...

Re: Upgrade to steam....
Just shows that the "Made in England" or *Made in GT Britain* still means something. Hate to disappoint you, but a large part of Tornado was made in Germany-namely the boiler & firebox. At the risk of being cast to the lions, there is a reason why modern trains are not steam-and it's ...

Re: flushed away
Nylon radiator? Never heard that one before. Wouldn't have thought nylon would conduct heat as well as metal, therefore not give up it's heat as easily to the airflow.

Re: More Taxes
So we need a rotating AGM.
Derby one year, then Bristol, then Newcastle, then London, then Glasgow/Edinburgh, then start back at Derby.
(I've thought for a long time that it would do UK democracy no harm if Parliament held sessions away from Westminster.)

Sandy represents the club at FBHVC meetings so my meaning was that the club (and therefore it's members) have an input into these meetings. I'm not suggesting that he could possibly know the views and opinions of all 13,000 plus members. Presumably as an independant member you put your own views fo...

Thanks Roger, that's a very useful link. I particularly like the article on the home page about drum-disc conversion, has a set of photos showing the step by step process, from existing setup with drum, stripped to existing stub axle etc up to completed disc brake. http://www.mgaroadster.co.uk/mga_1...
