Re: New MOT Rules?

Delighted to see this initiative. To understand it, you first have to study and read the directive 2009/40/EC and note what may be going to change. It took me a while to find the appropriate relavent text for historic vehicles. Here in Germany there is no exemption like in GB for pre 1960 vehicles e...

Re: Growling Traveller

It appears from your text that you suspect the gearbox more than the engine. If however, the noise is different in first gear then if youcan find a steep hill to put the engine under load whilst in first gear, this may indicate once and for all , it is a gearbox Problem by the fact the "Growl&q...

Complete Restauration?

In that case may I comment that when I replaced the grearbox on mine, the manual warned that the earthing strap had to be well fixed otherwise the electrics would not work.........................

Re: Distributor curves.

I would assume that my 1947 Austin 8 with its 803cc side valve engine is very similar to the early Morris type MM. I have also had a Play with the Timing on the distributer lately as I was not convinced that the full power was being obtained. As mentioned above, to get smooth idling, the dist. is ad...

Re: 4.22 diff

Nickol, I know a chap in Holland who makes them (both the dished and flat versions) and sells them at shows. He also makes rev counter dials and replacement clocks for the T-Series. The quality of his work is excellent. Regards Declan Can I get to know this chap as well???? Would much prefer to hav...

Mike, When I changed the diff from the 4.22 to the 3.9 on my 1098, I found that the speedo ...... I did this recently on the MG TD when I changed the dial to KPH and it works a treat. you might like to look at the last few Posts in this thread which refer to you question . http://mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=56976 In any case, the speedo cable is indeed turned by and connected to the gearbox but the diff (as well as the wheel dia) is the deciding facor on which speedo need...

Re: Brake pipe union threads

To be precise and rather pedeantic, it is not metric but SI - Systeme international. The Name never really caught on since ist inception. places which previously used the metric System hardly noticed any Change and the British did not like it much because........perhaps I had better not say.

Re: Indicator bulb holder

Had a similar Problem with mine - the temp solution was to glue the green bulb cover with Wood glue ( such that it could be later easily removed ). Later I found a bolt which could be screwed in to reshape the threaded part. A part of this blot can be filed flat to allow it beginn threading. Once co...

Re: Horn stuck on

Assuming the horn is the central press type fitted to later models, this also needs to be checked. The horn is just a press switch. It completes the circuit to earth as the horns themselves are always "live" so to speak. (see wiring Diagramme at the head of this section) If the horns are p...

Re: brake fade!

If as you describe, the pedal Needs to be pumped to get the Brakes to work, then this is a classic symtom for the Brakes not being adjusted properly. The rear Brakes are a particular culprit as they only have one adjuster and as time goes on it seems , to me anyway, particulary troublesome to get te...

Steering wheel exchange

My 69 Traveller has the Standard two spoke steering wheel which is, despite polishing und cleaning getting a bit manky. I do not like the design of the two spoke anyway. If I get hold of the three spoke with central horn push as for earlier models, will it fit on the column as a straight fit, does a...

Re: Fuel gauge issue

Now that you have it sorted, I can tell this tale without creating confusion. The gauge on my '68 Traveller also only read half full but with so much fuel in the tank it was visible in the filler pipe. I played around with the voltage Regulator, the Feeds and had the Sender unit out to check. All se...

Re: What would you like to have fabricated?

not really a Suggestion but more of a personnal Need.

I am looking for a glove box surround for my ( now) LHD Traveller and maybe the glove box itself.

I have it mind to make these parts myself this winter using GfK techniques as the steel parts are not available from the normal sources.
