Re: Front seats

Hi there Jenny,
A photo of the front seats would help in identifying the query.
Some late 2dr saloons (mostly Trafalgar blue in colour) had a folding front passenger seat.

Re: Original Minor Matters 1978-80

I know how you feel 'Firedrake', I have a lot of the early A4 and blue booklet magazines somewhere in the loft and I too cannot get my original membership number of 2771 back! Been told that it is something to do with the computer.

It says No.

Re: split screen windscreen chrome

I am not sure if I am right but I believe the holes in the ends of the metal split windscreen trims are there so the delicate pieces could be hung up in the chroming process. They are hidden away in the final assembly.

Re: Parcel shelf ashtrays

You say that you wouldn't let anyone smoke in your car now, and neither would I, but Minors come from an era where an awful lot of Minors were smoked in especially the early models. Different days! I have owned quite a few Minors over the years and because I don't smoke I used to take out the under ...

Re: Wing replacement paint time

Personally, I would trial fit all the outer panels before painting. You can then fettle, pull, push, and bend them in to the position that achieves the best fit for your car. You can also skim fill imperfections as required at this point. Paint them off the car and final fit when dry using tape on s...

Just wondering if there could be a limited 'run' of these if all goes according to plan?

Re: Where are they now?

Hi Maurice, The white convertible was owned by Ken Jee from the Manchester area, many many years ago. After not seeing him for nearly 40 years we were reacquainted at the Northern Regional Rally/South Cheshire Branch Rally on Sunday 13th August this year. He entered a very nice Series II saloon in t...

Re: Certificate of Conformity

Further to Palacebear's thread above, the SVA has since been superseded by the Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) test which is slightly more onerous. I know as I am building a kit car and will be applying for an IVA test soon. The system is run by VOSA and covers all vehicles, imports, kit cars etc....

The MM boot hinges are quite distinctive to the later 'rounded' type, they end in a very sharp point and almost impossible to find!

And, there's always something that goes wrong just before they hand the cars back to the owners. Staged or what!

But I do enjoy it. :D

Re: A bad reputation created by some 'modern' car drivers ?

Evening All, I haven't been on here for a few weeks but reading this negative thread I thought I would 'chip in' and own up. Whilst I have a Series II Convertible that I am now restoring, my daily driver is an Audi A6. Whilst covering some 40,000 miles over the last twelve months I can report that I...

Re: these wheels..

Apologies - I don't know what the wheels but what a fantastic piece if engineering there must be going on under the bodywork and it is so subtle. There has to be a new chassis under the body and the car probably doesn't have its original inner wings (or any other original structure under the 'skin'....

Re: gearbox color

Hi there TvdWerf? I believe all the MM sidevalve engines and some early Series II (BRITMO 803cc) cars are fitted with 'blue' coloured engines. The exception being gold or silver for reconditioned units. And as far as I know the MM gearboxes were all the same colour 'blue' with recon units being gold...

Just looked back at this old post of mine and wanted to let folks know that I found a very decent MM radiator last week. Original and doesn't need to be recored. Its taken some time but I was prepared to wait. Also picked up an MM 'mottled' steering wheel at this year's National Rally (no not the £1...

I'd like to confirm my name is Ian and I am usually found on the naughty step.

What more does anyone want to know?

I've been a member of the club on and off since 1982. More on than off.

And all the people I want to know who I am, know who I am.
