Re: Traveller front seats
There is a difference between 2-door saloon and Traveller front passenger seats, at l;eats on many Travellers: The back folds flat forwards ontop the base and then the whole thing will tip forwards into the foot well. The saloon did not have the folding seat. That is not really correct. 2 door salo...

Re: Travellers car
Minor Travellers were indeed popular as company cars back in the day. However, the timber frame required quite a bit of looking after if they were to remain attractive and I remember seeing them only a few years old with peeling varnish and moss growing in the window channels. I bought my first trav...

Re: Traveller front seats
As already said, saloon seats are basically the same. However if you're looking at the Bermuda Blue traveller on ebay, you will not find saloon seats in that midnight blue colour because that colour was used exclusively on very late Travellers. Therefore quite unusual and hard to get. Worth checking...

Re: Protecting cellulose
The last thing you want want when spraying cellulose is blisteringly hot conditions because the paint will be almost dry before it even reaches the car. Just dry and warm would be perfect. I have never heard of cellulose being baked in an oven myself. The whole point of cellulose in vehicle refinish...

Re: Protecting cellulose
Cellulose paint shouldn't come off so easily if it is a) Good quality. or b) If the preparation was carried out correctly. When I restored my own Traveller I sprayed the body with the front doors and front wings already fitted (as was done at the factory) to eliminated damaging the paint on panel ed...

Re: Tubes and tyres
Whilst I agree with Rob says, I can only tell what I do with my own car(s). I have not used tubes on my Morris Minors for more than 30years and although I have been told the story MANY times about how the Minor wheels are not designed to run without tubes and that the tyres can come off etc etc. I h...

Re: Spotted today.
Mine is also a Convertible. I have never had any problem with water ingress despite it living outside all year round. It is largely a matter of making sure the window rubbers are in good condition and everything fits properly.

Re: Can someone please advise how to replace the bump stop on a 1961 tourer?
Do as you wish of course but I would walk away from any Minor Convertible which has had the kick plates welded on unless it was very cheap and I was prepared for the large expense of rebuilding the sill structure on both sides a few years down the line. Most MOT testers won't have the faintest idea ...

Re: Spotted today.
Saw two minors today Both looked very tidy, and would have been better tucked up in the garage than being out in the lousy wet weather. I'm not sure I agree with you. These cars are to be used! Mine was outside in the wet weather yesterday. It is outside in the weather everyday as I don't have a ga...

Re: Can someone please advise how to replace the bump stop on a 1961 tourer?
Bump stop replacement, the ones held on with 3 x 1/4 bolts. To use the correct terminology and avoid confusion, that is the rebound stop. The bump stop is the one held on with 2 bolts up inside the inner wing  . There seems to be some confusion regarding these 2 parts. If either is missing it...

Re: Can someone please advise how to replace the bump stop on a 1961 tourer?
Perhaps you mean the rebound brackets beneath the damper arms rather than the bump stops? The rebound stops ARE visible from the engine bay. If it is the screwed-on kick plates which have been welded in position, as Mark says, just walk away. Somebody had bodged it up and there are plenty of better ...

Re: Traveller Roof
It will be a fairly big job to remove the rubber strip. As you suggest, the strip is a seal between the front (steel) cab and the rear (aluminium) roof panel. You will have to release the headlining to access the joint. You do this by removing the capping piece which covers the join between the fron...

Re: Rear wings
They are a slightly different shape. Easiest to look at them side by side as shown here: http://www.morrisminorspares.com/search/rear-wing You're confusing "early wings" with "early Minor 1000 wings" which is what this post is about  Pre Minor 1000 (pre1956) the rear wings...

Re: Lowlight saloon on ebay
The highest bid on ebay was £1600 but the reserve wasn't met. Seemingly it did find a new home because it is now for sale on ebay again in Derby (was Shropshire before I think?) at a 99p start and no reserve...... MUCH better pictures show further rust but a fairly complete car. Seller claims it to ...

Re: Horn bracket
You have the correct bracket fitted to your front panel for a car of that age. However, somebody has then fitted the later type horn and mounting bracket to your original bracket! What you have now is a combination of both types. If you want the car to be correct and original it should have just one...

Strange. If you look at the seller's feedback, the last thing he sold was this car - or at least the body of it

Re: Heater valve
The base footprint of the MGB valve is bigger so I don't think it would be all that simple. Also, I imagine that the new MGB ones are made with the same "care and craftmanship" as the new Minor 1000 ones which would lead me to think there might not be much point anyway :( On my late Minor ...
