Re: new addition to the fleet

Purely curious... how many miles has it done? Glad you asked as I really hadn't though of it. Just had a look. 44,644 MOT history check on DVLA goes back to 2006 and suggests very low use as was communicated to myself by the vendor. I had been told the car moved around a bit with the previous owner...

Re: new addition to the fleet

Vast Minority, . Any chance of putting a decent photo of the bonnet pull label on here, with dimensions, as I wouldn't mind making up a reproduction. I made a good fist of the regulator label which was on a concours car. While the wing mirrors are different to mine , I do not think they look out of...

Re: new addition to the fleet

That's a gorgeous and delightful car! As a restorer I can really appreciate one that hasn't had and doesn't need any work... Number plates will be orig too: All styles of letters were available at the time, it was just down to what the dealer supplied. As for Clarendon grey, I'm toying with the ide...

Re: new addition to the fleet

The mirrors possibly look a little out-of-place on a Minor but they're not too far off-period. My family's photo albums reveal that my Dad's '57 Austin Cambridge had that shape/type of mirror already fitted when he bought it in 1961. Indeed, apparently these were fitted very early on in the cars li...

Re: new addition to the fleet

Excellent example. The patch on the side of the gearbox cover for the left foot wear is evidence of the reason for one of the few design changes done to avoid an issue. The first gearbox covers for the remote gearbox were more square in that the right side and the left side were identical, but with...

Re: new addition to the fleet

I reckon the rear reg. plate is def original. Pressed metal. 3.5 inch digits and shaped for the recess on the boot lid. :) It looks like a pressed one there on the lift but its actually the individual plastic 3D characters, same as the front. Ive seen other mid 50s plates like this so maybe/maybe not

Re: new addition to the fleet

reg Bournemouth 13 March 1957, still got its original card reg document RF60. I suspect the reg plates may even be the originals.

Its still got the bonnet pull label as well, original, not a reproduction.

Re: new addition to the fleet

Thanks, one undertaker owner whom used it in summer only on weekends from 1957 until 2010 when it passed to a couple that used it for shows. Im the third owner, it wants for absolutely nothing other than new tyres as the cross-plies were badly perished. That is why its on the lift in the above pic. ...

Re: How to post a photo

So, of all the attempts above, only the diddy one at 123KB was a success, (for myself) repeated here twice to see if it is a total attachment quota or an individual picture quota. End result is it uploaded the 2 without a problem, a total of 246kb thus it is an individual file limitation of somewher...

Re: Winter protection

A rather brutal attempt to discredit my opinion, one can only wonder at your motive..... Clearly you consider yourself more knowledgable on the subject of corrosion than I and believe me fella, I'm more than happy to allow you to continue in that notion. The simple fact is, our opinions differ, I'm ...
