I'll 'third' that! Had to screw an adaptor in first to allow room for the capillary bulb.

Re: Ignition switch fault?
I had a similar problem a few weeks ago - after much twiddling and scratching about it was the solenoid coil itself - ign switch was fine but the soleniod had just got too 'tired' to pull the contacts in properly each time. I suspect that over the years the main contacts in the soleniod were most li...

Sounds like exactly what I had with my traveller last year - it was the head gasket.

Re: Traveller sliding glass channels
If you drive the screws in at an angle into the corner of the runner, they'll pull in nicely and not foul the glass. This way it also pulls the channel into the corner of the wood rebate. I did mine this way and it worked a treat!

I'd be very surprised indeed if the vacuum from the carb is strong enough to move a syringe!

Re: Crossplys or Radials
My 69 traveller is my every day vehicle and I am very pleased indeed with the handling and ride on my Toyo 155 radials :D Went all through the winter of 2010/11 on a hilly route to work each day and took great delight in burbling past loads of modern tin cans with no traction - Monty never slipped a...

Totally agree with Roy! Wolseley brakes are absolutely brill - if you can find some. Straightforward swap and they also stop your bottom trunnion dropping off......

Raffle at the National
Anyone know who won the raffle for the unleaded cylinder head at the National? I bought tickets but couldnt be there for the draw - they told me the winning ticket number would be posted on the club site - but I haven't seen it (don't know where to look!)

Re: New woodwork/ Danish oil or Sikkens?
I spent a lot of time researching different products before stripping off the old varnish and treating with an Osmo oil - almost colourless and supposed to have superb (12 x the normal) UV protection. Its a pleasure to use and the first coat really gets into the bare wood. I then gave a very light s...

Re: Conks out after 2 miles
I had an MG Midget that started doing that and one problem was the fuel cap not lettiong enough air in to the tank, and another was one of those pesky conductive rotor arms.

I've just replaced both king pins and all trunnions on my traveller. :D Struggled a bit getting the steering arms out but blowlamp and PlusGas helped! Did have to cut one out with the angle grinder though... :o Anyway, put it all back together and got the grease gun out. Pumped the old gun and out p...

Re: electronic ignition
I have electronic dizzy's from AccuSpark on a Series III Land-Rover and on my '69 Traveller. Set them up with my strobe and they are brilliant. Found it easiest on the Traveller to get my son to lay on the floor and watch the timing marks while I twiddled the dizzy. Moggie runs brilliantly - no prob...

'unsent' pm's
I've tried sending a couple of pm's recently and they don't seem to have gone anywhere? My outbox still says I have one message in it, and neithewr of the recent messages appear in my 'sent items' box - any ideas?

Re: New forum member
Evening Tom and welcome! My son (23) has bought a saloon and also just collected a traveller to restore earlier today. He got hooked when he found out just what a brilliant day to day car my traveller is. It's my main and daily transport! Through the club insurance his costs about £160 for his moggi...

Re: Raising and supporting rear of car
Just done a Bull Motif kit on my son's saloon, and also changed all my rear bushes to poly's on my traveller. Check the kit has the front special pins before you start - I think I had to buy those extra - and also some of the rear shackle pins had badly formed threads so a nut wouldn't go on. BM cha...

Agreed - the new paint you've used looks right to me - same as my Almond Green traveller. The front of the wing doesn't look the right shade.
