Types of roof lining material

Hello Colleagues, By "roof lining" material, I mean the "backing boards" that the visible surface material is attached to. When I got my 1950 low-light saloon, it was devoid of any roof lining. I opportunely bought 2 sets of used roof lining boards, both of which are a thin plywo...

Re: Introducing Elsie May

Nice Traveller. Good to know that you will be reverting Grille and Wheels to "body colour". When I bought mine, in 2013, it too came with a 1098 engine and gearbox, but the diff hadn't been changed - meant that the Speedo was showing about 20 MPH over what it was actually doing. Don't put ...

Re: Oil Gauge

Moss Europe do adapter parts and "hoses" (plastic), but they do state 1/8" NTPF - this reminds me that the 1/8" thread comes in "tapered" and "parallel" versions, like in Compressed Air fittings. https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?search_group...

Re: Oil Gauge

Stanmo, sorry about the delay in responding, but I don't get ANY notifications at all now from posts. I have a feeling that I obtained my pipe and joints from either Bullmotiff (now subsumed into ESM) or from Charles Ware. The Charles Ware website link, for oil pressure pipes is below https://www.mo...

Re: Oil Gauge

Hello, I've fitted these sorts of gauges to my Traveller, which had a 1098 engine fitted, by previous owners, in 1986. I'll dig out some info for you, but I do remember that, if you want to keep the green "oil light" in your speedo working, then you do need the 'T' piece fitted. You have t...

Re: Board

Let us not forget that the "current" site was a replacement for the previous site (the one we had when I joined) and when we were migrated from that to this, all the images were lost from the historical posts on how to repair/fix items, sometimes making the remaining text a bit useless. A ...

Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?

I had my Pfizer one on Feb 11th. Had a bit of a sore upper arm (site of jab), only at night if I slept on it, for a couple of nights.

Re: Recent acquisition

A lot of this chap's offerings are container imports from Oz. I have bought a complete front bumper from him - series MM bumper iron, split valences, filler piece and 2 very corroded blades. The bumper iron is currently fixed to my 1950 MM and fits a lot better than the iron that it was bought with!...

Re: Recent acquisition

Richard, The same seller is now advertising a Tourer, same vintage, but in much more need of TLC, for the same price of £5500.00. Here is the link if you would like to see what conditions cars can be in, here in the UK. https://ebay.us/WN7Psy I envy you your fantastic cars. Seasons Greetings, George.

It was a Classified Ad with a fixed price of £5500.00 - don't know if it was actually bought at this price.
That maroon MM look very nice - great find.

Yes, I've only noticed those after posting - had to go through the images I lifted off the advert to see anything else unusual. Here is a close-up of the off-side damper. Low-light-2.jpg And for those of you that hadn't seen the advert, the only duff things were the seats, as far as I could see. Low...

Re: Recent acquisition

Hello Richard, A 1949 low-light just sold on eBay UK (classified ad) and I'm adding a photo of the bulkhead which doesn't have the hose holes pre-drilled. The seller is a guy that looks to have imported a large number of vehicles and parts from Australia, going by the lack of rust anywhere on this c...

Re: Car not starting

Hello Alice, Oh dear, that is too far for me to pop over to take a look with my 1960s/70's diagnostic tools (I'm in Farnborough, Hampshire). I also think that travel to that area is being restricted - haven't been there since about 1975. Have you taken out the plugs and checked the gaps (0.025"...

Re: Stale petrol

When I sold my first 1964 2-door saloon to a local dustman, it had been standing for about 6 years (since 1984) with a partial tank of 3-star petrol. There were no problems with "real" petrol and it would start on the first quarter turn of the hand-crank (I wasn't going to replace the batt...

Re: RADIATOR MUFFLER

I had to use a "muffler" once many years ago on a 1964 2-door saloon, which I don't have any-more. Turned out the problem was a silted-up heat exchanger core! I do happen to have 2 period-correct grille muffs, which I keep in the house - just-in-case. George. P.S. In the early 70's I had t...

Message to the original poster- where are the pictures of the wheels you bought and the hubs that are on your car?

It has all gone very quiet on this post.

Re: Car not starting

I think being able to use a starting handle is a no brainer. If you are always lucky and there is a friend nearby to let you use your jump leads that's fantastic. But when you are in a hurry or when there is nobody around why wouldn't you want to get away in two minutes?? Hi You not talking to me ?...
