Re: Headlight kits .
From your original, introductory posts it does seem that you may have bought the car from a motor trader I got the impression from those posts they weren't a motor trader but a private seller, selling cars aka 'flipping' (or given the benefit of the doubt, someone whose circumstances changed and th...

It's sad really, yesterday you were on top of the world with your car back on the road, now it's parked bonnet up at an AA box
Re: Sills
I wanted a Beetle having grown up with all the Herbie films, but when choosing my first car I read online that they were apparently notorious for rust (ironic because I ended up with a Minor that required Major rust repairs) and the engines blow up - so ended up with the Minor

Re: 2 MOT or not 2 MOT
Not all cars have the buffer spacers… another variation was the upright part of the battery tray just had a rectangular piece of thin black plastic stuck to it, and the clamp likewise to insulate it. You're sure the buffers weren't just missing? My own car has the thin black plastic and the buffers...

Re: Heater Spruce Up
I was just being silly. I didn’t mean to be rude. Many years ago on the forum there was a slight misunderstanding between a younger member and an older member. The reason was that the young member (as an aside, I'm neither party in this) was used to ending jokes with some form of emoticon (also as ...

The heater fascia should be crackle/wrinkle.Very poor attention to detail And your wrinkles don't look like the original wrinkle pattern, so poor attention to detail on your part too! https://board.mmoc.org.uk/download/file.php?id=12116 Did you mean this company when you said Sticky Fingers? ...

Re: 2 MOT or not 2 MOT
Have to admit I never gave it any thought about the battery bar and terminals when in-situ (when it's being taken off then yes, I'm very mindful), I have mine towards the front (since the negative earth conversion) but the battery I have has the terminals off centre so they're nowhere near the bar a...

Re: minor boot seal
And on the flip side, I tried using Timebond and all I got for my troubles was a seal that fell out on me. In the end my car had to go in for restoration, so I don't know what sealant they used for the new seal, but I got a whole different boot lid in the end (if I remember right) as part of the res...

Re: 2 MOT or not 2 MOT
Certainly cars from between '62-'64 had them.
Your holes may contain the remnants of the buffers, they split right at the connecting point.

Maybe its the image, but those twigs look thinner than the rubber buffers that go behind the battery to push the battery out from the bulkhead, were they missing?

Re: Sills
When ever someone asks about getting such work done in Scotland, my advice is to take it down south - this is based on my own experiences from when I lived in Scotland. Of course, if you do that then hopefully your gearbox won't fail on the way south resulting in having to pay for a private car tran...

I'ts quite possible that if you look at the metal under the dashboard beyond the extent of the footwell carpets that you'll find the metal still in its' original paint colour.

Split Screen Minors - low down torque or excessive speed?
I was looking through the forums at pictures of scuttle panels (the inner arch lining type) due to my drivers side one having had a rectangle cut out of it and wondering if this was normal before I re-line them in replacement vinyl. Anyway, in doing so I found a thread of old restoration images and ...

Re: Door shuts
Do you crank the inner door handle before closing the doors?
Might be worth trying that and then closing them to see if it makes them close more easily.

Re: Limited Mileage Insurance requires annual MOT?
if they suspect that someone is trying to pull a fast one they will drill down until they get to the truth Well ! Drilling a car to bits just so they can say it had pre-existing damage and not pay out :P   So I think the 'naming and shaming' point is mute in this case, people have a need...

Would be interesting to know which companies those Grumpy21 mentioned were... but it might count as naming and shaming.
