Here's a pic of my two cars. The Morris is a 1953 803, totally original and fully restored. The other is a 1963 Holden (local Australian GM car), recently purchased and used as my daily runner

Re: drain plug
Run a cooling system flush solution through the system for about 20 minutes, then undo the bolt when the engine is nice and hot. Make sure rad cap is off and careful not to burn yourself. The hot water and flushing solution should clear the sludge.

Re: Running problem
He is saying it is losing power and dropping back under acceleration in 4th. That's not normal for an 803. Mine pulls like a train up long hills in top gear. It does sound ignition related, check points gap, condenser, plugs, HT leads etc.

Re: Brakes...
It really shouldn't be this hard. There must be a leak somewhere. I would suspect the master cylinder.

Re: Engine Mounts
All the mounts are correctly fitted and correct for the car - there is no gearbox mount, the rear ones are at the front of the box.. When fitting I had the first three fully tight and then had to lever the final rear one across a little to line it up, so it was very rigid. It strikes me that if all ...

Engine Mounts
Apologies, as this post refers to my other car, not my Morrie but I guess the principle could apply to Morries as well! I have a 1963 EJ Holden, Australian 6 cylinder which has four engine mounts, 2 front and 2 rear. Just replaced all four and now find quite a bit of vibration, whereas before there ...

I use the Bilt Hamber Polish - gives a brilliant finish and easy to apply and buff off

Re: Series 2 chrome windscreen strip
The strip certainly finishes off the car but it is a pain to fit! Took me ages to get it right.

I really don't think I was putting anyone down - merely said it would be nice to see this one restored, that's all.

Well, 1000's may not be rare but Series II's, even late ones like this certainly are.

Welcome to forum!
Sorry, but I have to agree with Mike. Split screens are getting more and more rare - would be nice to see this one restored to original

Re: pushrod order
When I rebuilt my engine I carefully pushed the rods through a piece of cardboard in their right order, but neglected to number them, so when I came to reassemble 3 months later I had no idea which was number one and which was number 8 I just stuck them back in anyway and they were fine

Re: Oil blackening quickly
I would suggest a complete oil change and grease of all nipples before you take the car on any long journey. Costs very little and worth it for peace of mind.

Re: Oil blackening quickly
My engine was fully stripped, acid bath cleaned and rebuilt with all new parts when I did the resto a few years back. I have since covered about 5,000 miles. Yes inside the dizzy cap you'll see the leads are held in by screws that screw into and through the lead. Just unscrew these and the leads will pull out
