Re: Disc brakes

I would have thought if a 1275 or otherwise quick engine was fitted then discs may be a good idea. I cant recall who, but someone a while ago mentioned that there are fewer original minors on the road these days. I built a car once, a kit based on a cobra design, with Ital pedal box, rover v8 engine...

Re: lost my motivation

Speaking from experience, when people asked me how long it took to build a certain kit car, I replied 6 months, then 6 months off then another 6 months.
Without the break I would have just gotten fed up, taking a break is a great idea.

Re: Bargain manual......NOT!

I have one of those gathering dust in the workshop, whe hey!
I recall someone bemoaning the increasing cost of Morris Minors on this site, a certain BMC Ecosse made the point that it was fine by him, it just raised the value of his collection.

Re: What have I done wrong?

I wonder if the plate smoked when drilled ?
That looks a little like blistering, maybe as well as masking tape coolant or a drop of oil would help?
Stable doors and horses I know.

Re: worst year for minors

I would add to all the comments that, having replaced a wing a couple of years ago the weight of the replacement was much lighter than the original, Doris was built in 1965. Of course this is an irrelevance if the new item is protected somehow from the dreaded tin worm that the original succumbed to...

Stick a letter under the wiper, let the owner know you were concerned, leave a phone number. Who knows, you may pick up a bargain.

Re: three pairs of hands

Well. Fuel consumption should be ok, I left a gap between the roof and the visor so air can pass through. That way it shouldnt get torn off. As for the sun, good point. The tips on rotating photos are useful too thanks. I bought it from Tom Roy. It was painted, as was the car by Andy Denhams paint s...

three pairs of hands

Just in case you are thinking of fitting a sun shade, first make sure you have 3 pairs of hands, 2 people at least to hold it in place and a spare pair for fiddly bits. Holding a grub screw, while winding in a bolt and balancing clamps, supporting the shade, without scratching the paint work, is a r...
