Re: Indicator/hazard light wiring

Just looking at your circuit you have not only joined the left/right circuits at the dash warning lamp but also at the hazard relay output. A quick google search will produce a few wiring diagrams, here is one as an example. https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/file_uploads/170902_wiring_diagram....

Re: Indicator/hazard light wiring

Does the Red light in the Hazard Switch still flash? Without that, I believe your system will not be MOT compliant as you need to be able to tell the difference between Indicators and Hazards operating. Yep, the hazard switch flashes red when activated (and not when the indicator switch is used), s...

Perfect, thanks Steve! I'm glad something stuck in my brain from school. Hope you're well!

Indicator/hazard light wiring

Hi all, Last job on the snagging list to do before MOT, and it's electrical. Hands up, it's not the original BMC style wiring but if anyone with general electrical experience can confirm or deny my suspicions, based on my basic GCSE Physics knowledge, I'd be very grateful! A while back I fitted one ...

Re: Traveller rear door seals

Thanks Mark! It's the top of the doors that have me stumped. I had a look, and the top lip of the door doesn't come high enough to properly meet the rubber quadrant around the door aperture, though I don't know if this is by design or if my doors have just drooped! There's a tiny bit of overlap but ...

Re: Traveller rear door seals

If you haven't already got it, the Ray Newell/Steve Foreman Morris Traveller book is very good on this sort of detail. Not cheap, though! I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago - great book, but couldn't find good pictures of the rear door seals unfortunately! I'd like to get his Original Mor...

Re: Traveller rear door seals

Thanks both for the photos - always really interesting to compare Travellers from different eras and see all the minor (ha) differences - I do wonder what the reasoning is for some of the changes! Peggy has her original timber and rear doors; perhaps the foam CW sell is intended for older models. I'...

Traveller rear door seals

I recently fitted the quad rubber all around the rear door aperture, and the flat rubber strip that goes between the two doors, and it’s made a massive difference; the cabin no longer fills with exhaust fumes and there’s less of a puddle in the boot when it rains  There’s still the odd drop get...

philthehill wrote: Tue Jul 21, 2020 6:29 pm What have you done about the dampers?
I haven't been able to do anything yet- but now that it has working brakes and the suspension is attached to the car, I'll measure up and drill a couple of new holes on the bracket so that I can mount it the right way round.

Re: A nasty shock

New cylinder arrived today, got it fitted, adjusted the brakes and sorted out the handbrake, tomorrow I'll see whether it'll hold the car on a steep hill. I'm a bit more optimistic this time! Went for a short test ride and everything felt normal, I fitted a new exhaust trim and rear door seals yeste...

Re: A nasty shock

From what I can see the 'right angle brackets' are fitted to the correct sides. If necessary drill an additional hole in the damper 'right angle bracket' using the top hole as the reference point. The way the original damper mounts were fitted is totally wrong. Try and get your mounts in the same o...

Re: A nasty shock

Do you think it is possible that the right angled brackets have been installed on the wrong sides of the car. If you were to swap them over you might get the shocks into the intended position that way. Phil I don't think so - I just had a look at a RH bracket on one of the spares sites and it looks...

Re: A nasty shock

Not standard AFAIK, though I stand to be corrected... Certainly, my 1970 Traveller didn't come with any fitted, and I don't think I've seen them on any other Travellers, including a 1960s model I owned a few years ago. I'm sure it's a modification, quite a useful one though. It attaches at the othe...

Re: A nasty shock

https://www.mmoc.org.uk/Messageboard/download/file.php?id=13786 Out of interest, what is the bar between the offside rear chassis rail and offside rear wing? Is it for a mudflap, or a stay to prevent the rear wing flapping about? Yep, it's to keep the wing in place - is it not standard? I'm going t...

Re: A nasty shock

My hand is at the rear of the tire. The tele damper bracket utilizes the two original lever damper mounts. So the bracket faces the rear pointing down. Brilliant - thanks Phil, I get it now. Thanks to you and Geoberni for the photos, they help so much. I'll go and see what's dropped off and what I ...

Re: A nasty shock

There are two U bolts per side, why not check the other side to identify the missing parts? Oops, just noticed that’s been mentioned! Yep, I did think of that - I took a quick photo but didn't want to crawl underneath without the car on axle stands, and didn't want to rest it on axlestands without ...

Hang on a moment - are there two u bolts per side? That would make sense to my not very mechanical mind... Yes :) Here's a couple of images I've just taken of Basil out in the garage.... Re: A nasty shock

The drawing in the manual isn't very clear. The locating plate and bracket have five holes in - I assume that one in the centre is for the dowel bolt and the two on the outside edge are for the u bolt. But what goes through the other two? Hang on a moment - are there two u bolts per side? That woul...
