Re: how to refill Acide to the Battary
Sandun - please do be extremely careful if you do decide to try to empty your battery and refill it with acid. Definitely wear eye protection and rubber gloves and be very careful about splashes - you only have one pair of eyes! The sulphuric acid in the battery is surprisingly strong and will easil...

Re: Exhaust Flange Damage
Well I wondered if it would last but it surprisingly did! I folded a strip about 6" wide over and over till it was about 1" then smeared gungum along it quite generously so it worked like a bandage - wrapped it snug round the joint then put the clamp on and finally smoothed the paste nicel...

Re: Exhaust Flange Damage
I make up a folded strip of aluminium foil spread with gungum and wrapped around the joint, then put the clamp on and smooth it all off after tightening - makes a very neat gas tight joint

Re: Pick Up Third Brake Light
My traveller is used daily and I fitted a high level brake light a couple of years ago - along the bottom of the o/side rear window. Really pleased I did - so many idiots travel so close I don't think they could see the normal lights because they're low down. I was trundling along at an indicated 55...

Re: Better airfilter for Marty
I've just fitted Monty with a separate inlet manifold and a HIF38. I've fitted the air filter system from a 1300 Marina but I had to make an adaptor plate to drop the filter horizontal to clear the bonnet. Nice and quiet and I'm told it should pass plenty of air but I don't know if a K&N type mi...

Agreed. 45D I'm told has a better curve - better suited to modern petrol or something. My traveller certainly runs very well indeed with it

Re: Fuel Vaporisation
I had some issues with my Series One Land-Rover (almost the same SU pump as the Minor) and after a LOT of investigations turned out to be the inside of the rubber fuel feed pipe from the pump to the carb breaking down due to 'modern' fuels so that a little flap of rubber could block the pipe. When y...

Re: Aarrgghh! Osmo oil is yellow!
Mine is the original wood so the wood itself has naturally darkened a bit so the Osmo oil has merely showed the grain to its best and looks exactly right for a car that was made back in 1969. I certainly wouldn't described as a yellow finish at all - did you get a tinted one? Protection wise and for...

Many thanks BMC! I shall fire up the grinder soon! I've already got the smashing Wolseley front brakes so will have no worries from the extra velocity!

Re: Howley manifold
Thanks again. Sorry to be a bit dim but what's the difference between the HS4 and HIF38 carbs? My Howley has a 4 square fixing for the carb and I'm guessing that's for the HIF38? Which do you think is the better carb? I get around 40 to the gallon in Monty and am hoping to maintain good economy but ...

Re: Tube or Tubeless - that is the question
I run my traveller on 155 Toyo's - absolutely brilliant in all weather conditions. They seem to be fine tubeless - I haven't had any problems at all and they've been on two and a half years now. Monty is my daily transport too. 32psi all round

Thanks BMC! What do you think about the exhaust manifold? Just chop off the inlet bit (I have a spare) or try to find a three branch one?

Howley manifold
Evening chums! What are your thoughts on Howley inlet manifolds? I have one and am wondering if it's worth fitting to Monty (1969 1098cc Traveller) for just a bit more 'oomph'. I have an old inlet/exhaust manifold that I can cut the inlet bit off and make up a plate for the Howley to take my existin...

Looks pretty good to me - good piccys! :D Sounds like what you need is a tame Morris fan close by who can help you out a bit - but you'll have to get cracking and stop lying in bed for so long at the weekends! I know what you youngsters are like! Good luck with ti all and hope to see it on the...
