Is the problem that the holes in the wheels have got bigger? Thanks to you too! I think it's a bit of both. Holes slightly larger and bolts worn. One worn bolt kindly stuck itself securely [at a slight angle] in the right size socket .... growl  Trying to find the cheapest safe way to resolve...

Thanks for reply.

But, forgive my ignorance but, how would I go about all of that?
Might it be expensive?

I've had wheel nuts strip, wheel centres crack, front hub crack and shatter (a story of its own!) but never had a stud snap. Years ago when I worked in a tyre centre whenever a Mini, Minor, Triumph or any vehicle with tiny studs came in it was time to put away the impact wrench, even then it was ne...

Re: exhaust

Only related to clutch judder in that judder will cause the exhaust to hit the body! This is a problem on the Minor because, over the years, the shape of the exhaust system seems to have altered slightly i.e. the first bend after the manifold joint tends to hit the bodywork at the bottom of the engi...

You could use a spot of Polyurethane glue on each pad, something like Sikflex or Tiger Seal, or if you know a friendly windscreen fitter, the stuff they stick modern screens in with (basically the same stuff but thicker). Once cured it will certainly hold it OK. I recently sold a "new old stoc...

Re: clutch judder

OK, I know its just one of those little things that makes it a moggy, but my clutch judder seems to be getting worse. Reverse has always been poor, but it is now getting quite pronounced in first too. Any ideas on how to reduce this? So far the things I can see that need obvious work are: Engine mo...

What have you got a setup Chrissie? Nuts or bolts? The old type wheels are quite prone to wearing out on the holes. Good ol bolts 1952 Series MM. Oddly, the holes don't look worn. And they are the same size as the replacement wheel I was kindly given... JLH said he has some with larger 'heads' on t...

Rubber suction pads

Hiya I have windscreen demister that consists of a strip of brown bakelite, a length of curly wire behind, an on/off switch and two brown rubber suction pads to attach it to the drivers window. The pads are attached to the unit by chrome nuts. BUT, the rubber is elderly and not soft enough to form a...

Hi Chrissie What you need is a complete wire to replace it with & guess who's got one of those. You will need to drill out (may pull out) the broken piece from pivot end of Traf arm & then solder this one in place. PM your address & I can pop it in the post for you. Rog Wow, talk about ...

Windscreen rubber UK

Hi Can anyone recommend a company to replace my windscreen rubber please? I have the [hopefully the right one] rubber and have ordered a new centre pillar with gasket. Would love to do it myself but need another pair of hands. Autoglass quote £47 but say if the glass gets broken I will have to pay f...

I seem to have a mouse tied to the propshaft - there's a sqeak from somewhere under the gearstick area that is proportional to road speed, independent of gear and engine speed. I gave the front joint a few squirts of grease yesterday to see if it went away. At least I think I did. It was getting da...
