I would agree, far easier to repair if the rust is confined to that small area.

I would go with retarding the ignition as well. I had a Chevette many years ago that would pink when set up to the correct timing mark, retarding the ignition a tadd had it running perfectly.

Sounds good.
White really suits the Traveller - a nice contrast against the wood.

I think you need some form of arch but not fully covered, this car below (Grinnall Scorpian IV) has very small arches and is road legal.

I don't think you can ever have enough tools, I can always think of something I need when Christmas & birthday comes round!

Some whitworth sockets would be good though, not got these yet - apart from the one for the steering wheel.

Nice one Steve - you must be glad to have Fiona home.

Was the repair bill more than expected?

Mine has had a good run at the weekend - longest yet in our ownership - nice to travel at a more sedate pace than I am used to

lettering for heater panel

I want to repaint my heater panel inside the car but wondered what options there are to renew the lettering 'screen', 'car' etc

I was thinking of white letraset lettering but there doesn't seem to be any of this around anymore.

Why can't I stay logged in?

Most forums have a remember me type tick box to save you logging in each time you visit, I have tried this on here but I always have to log back in again on my next visit - does it not work for this site :(

I have made the most of this weekend moggy wise. Went for a good drive yesterday then later to the shops. Today I was out again to collect my daughter from a sleep over although she did not seem too impressed when she saw the Minor! (she is 14 and doesn't think its cool)

Tried to find 5th gear today

I must be too used to my modern car

I was out for a drive in the Minor and while ambling along I tried to change up from 4th gear to 5th - not surprisingly I didn't find this extra gear so just left it in 4th :D

Problem is, its likely to be offered on a deal to buy some nasty low emissions car that will be dull dull dull, they could half the price of these types of vehicle and it would be of no interest to me.

Its not so clear cut with planning permission, depends if the permitted development rights have been removed, if the garage or garden face onto a road - all sorts of odditys - always best to ask them first.

Thats a bit of a change Grandad! Looks nice though and the 5 speed box will make a difference.

I also have and Opel Manta - totally different the the Minor but good to drive.
