Road humps are a pain in the a---, literally. A modern car will take them at 30mph and a Minor will be less than 20mph. I have had to replace broken springs and weld cracks in the chassis because of them. On the local ones I can drive straight down the white line and get between them. The Traveller...

When I had my first car - a 1975 Opel Kadett, I had been working on it at my Uncles house, drove home and had been going a few miles when I remembered I had not tightened the wheel nuts - a quick stop was made and all were tightened.

Is it really still 'half full' - dip it with a wood stick next time this happens to see if it is really half full - or half empty! Ah the half full/half empty scenario. If full is 6 gallons and empty is 0 gallons. half of 6 is 3 but half of 0 is 0 so has to be half full  Is there a form of vo...

I would agree - go for spraying if you can. I fitted a bottom door skin replacement panel and it needed a bit of work to blend in. As a final coat, I used 3 coats of a thick cellulose filler primer, brushed on, then sanded it back by hand using a guide coat. It took ages to get a good smooth finish....

mgfmad - If you look at Al's picture there is a fused link which is supposed to maintain the low level consumption of radio codes, immobilisers etc if you remove the big knob. If the fuse is OK in yours and you are still loosing codes etc its another pointer to the whole lot packing up.... I notice...

I would say probably to repair what is there might be easier for a novice, assuming the panel is not to far gone. Doing a repair will save having to strip so much down rather then having to get the alignment right on re-assembly.

Tony, they were marketed as osmething like "discarnect" and in my opinion (my opinion only and not wishing to upset anyone) they are rubbish. The contact area breaks down over time and they cause starting / earthing problems..... I have one on my MGF (it was fitted by the last owner) and ...

I always do the final tightening with a torque wrench - just to make sure.
I will look out for the impact sockets though - thanks :D

I bought their Air Impact wrench and air ratchet this week - excellent value especially as there is a range of impact sockets and extension bars thrown in as well (metric so no use on the Moggy!) Used it last night to take off the wheels on the Freelander and it works well. Also bought the grit blas...

I would also advise using the small bottles unless you are doing loads of welding -BOC rental prices are expensive.

You will need one of these regulators for a small gas bottle -

As an MGF owner anyone wanting to fit Rover 200 (or MG ZR) wheels to their MGF has to fit wheel adapters so I would guess that the same adapter may be suitable for the Minor - but check first. The second item down on this page has the info - http://www.mikesatur.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Wheel_A...

On mine, the top pivot has 2 mounting screws, I lined it up roughly by hand then poked a screwdriver through one hole and this allows you to line the other hole up, put in the screw but don't do it up tight, remove the screwdriver and insert the other screw, then tighten both.

It is easy to do. I would advise buying the kit that comes with the new cog wheels and the rubber tensioners - at least that way you are not putting a new chain onto a worn cog. Have a search on here (under usefull tips) for the post about removing the starter dog (the bit the starting handle goes i...

For the side panels below the windows, remove the interior wood trim below the sliding windows, this gives access to the top of the trim panels, mine were tacked onto the wood frame behind, IIRC there is also either a screw or tack where the 2 panels join above the wheel arch. The rear panel shoul t...
