Re: Is there another curtailment?
Perhaps the warning should be directed at the sellers, letting them know that if they advertise cars or parts on this site they may be asked difficult questions and or be challenged regarding the information they have offered. Re: Differential for Disaster
Was also gonna go for broken half shaft, not too much work to check them out and if they are good drop the diff and check that out. Like most things on the minor its a process of elimination.

Re: LCB Exhaust tight up against cross member.
I have recently fitted a LCB and 1.5 SS exhaust and it was a complete nightmare. Finally established a fit that did not knock or hang too low by loosening all of the fittings and using wooden packing and or G-clamps to set the exhaust up where it needed to be. Then tightened the clamps and manifold ...

Re: Clutch & Gearbox replacement project
A spot of grease in each hole before fitting new screws will make life easier for the next time you need to do all that. Also give the chassis legs a good helping of waxoil type stuff before sealing them up. Or leave the 'soil' in there and grow a few spuds, although its a bit late in the season now!

Re: Clutch & Gearbox replacement project
All getting rather expensive, if the cost is not a problem replace the lot, however, a chap I know by the name of Mr Tight Bar-Steward would just replace the bushes and apply plenty of grease and see how it works. If not the desired outcome new bits can be fitted with minimum fuss at a later date. S...

Re: Clutch & Gearbox replacement project
I may well be wrong yet again but I think that the last time I swapped a box and clutch I did not do any of the under bonnet work. Just supported the engine, gearbox relalated stuff removed and dropped, new clutch fitted and box back on. It was hard work but cannot recall fetling with the exhaust, d...

Re: Clutch & Gearbox replacement project
I guess the best way to find out is to fit it and see. I'd recommend moving the engine forward a few inches to make refitting easier. Good luck, Tom How does this help Tom? I have swapped a few boxes and clutches over the years by just removing the prop, dropping the box, then fitting the new bits ...

You will need to 'copy this pic as' open with an ap that allows you to zoom in and then put on your sun glasses on as the ford sunburst red from the 80's may damage your eyes! May be of help, this is a genuine 61 ragtop.[frame][/frame]

Re: Gearboxes?
Sorry about the last post, almost in Wenglish. I have been searching for the 1275 box for several years and you cannot depend upon one having a reversing switch although it is a very good sign. Pretty sure that the early boxes were not fitted with the switch, input shaft is the one to check, 22G171 ...
