Re: New MOT exemption
This could be interesting... As I read it, the 'Vehicles of Historical Interest (VHI): “Substantial Change” Draft Guidance' https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/644962/vehicles-of-historical-interest-substantial-change-guidance.pdf final section of 'Draft Advice'...

Ex Cheshire Poilce?
I'm sure anyone interested has likely already seen it, but I've just noticed this new listing on Fleabay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Morris-Minor-Black-Police-Car-in-need-of-total-renovation-with-all-the-parts-/382225686748?hash=item58fe6d20dc:g:uMMAAOSwPyBZuDSz Makes a change for a Police Moggie not...

Re: Trafficators in use
markattard - if your Moggie currently has indicators utilising the Lucas DB10 system left installed from where they introduced the flashing brake light, then it's just a case of picking up a connection to each trafficator from terminals 4 and 8, which are the 2 feeds from the indicator switch. https...

Re: eBay XVS420
I don't think that necessarily means that it was taxed. How could it have been if it hasn't been MOT'd during recent years? It is post 1960 so requires an MOT in order to tax it. I think sometimes the information on that site is confusing. Good point, it didn't say 'Exempt' just 'No Details Held'. ...

I don't know how this forum is managed, but stopping spam can be hard work. What will keep the levels down in this forum is the authorisation process for opening an account. I'm a Moderator on a very well used Health & Safety Forum http://www.healthandsafetytips.co.uk/forums/ used by a great man...

I've just seen this appear on fleabay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Morris-Minor-1000-Garden-find-Spares-or-Repairs-/272839103198?hash=item3f867a52de:g:qLAAAOSwRr5Zso0x#viTabs_0 A little strange, as they say Car has been stood for approx. 15 years, she's complete, would need extensive work to get road ...

Re: Wipers suddenly coming on
It's definitely a stray earth, which is effectively taking the place of you operating the switch. As it's causing more than one cycle of the wipers to occur, it doesn't sound like a momentary thing. As you say it's 'often when turning right' then I'd be concerned that something is moving when you do...

Re: Door 'courtesy' switches
My Section N is the Electrics.... gotta love the old books.
Reminds me of my technical training in the 1970s RAF; most of our manuals were from the 50's as a lot of the training equipment was old 50's stuff that had been consigned to the training role.

Re: Door 'courtesy' switches
philthehill - Thanks for that description. I realise now that there is a channel down the inner side of the door pillar area that's not evident from the panel diagrams. My Moggie has received a Reconditioned 948cc engine about 7 years or so ago, so that's hopefully covered enough for my purposes in ...

Re: Rooftop hitching 1974 caravan!
That might have changed now Lobby, the powers that be have removed "granddad rights" from the driving license. I used to be able to drive a 7.5t and have done but since two years ago that right was removed unless I took an extended training course for 7.5t vehicles and trailer towing incl...

My 'Other Car' is a Ford Kuga and I'd had it nearly 3 years before I found that if the remote's Unlock Button gets somehow operated for several seconds in your pocket, all the windows open! I got up this morning and noticed that the neighbour's car parked on their drive right outside their front doo...

Re: Aldi type places.
I don't know what the current situation is with them but when Aldi/Lidl first came over here and didn't use bar code scanning checkouts, the staff were paid a considerable mark-up over standard supermarket staff as they were required to remember the prices. The also don't have set roles, there's no ...

Thanks.
I think I'll just accept that the illustrations in the 'Official' BL manual are not much better than a Haynes manual
A case of 'Take yours apart and see which diagram it's most like'!

For the past 40+ years of DIY with such switches, I've always used needle nose pliers. Same principle for unscrewing watch backs too. e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-Mini-Extra-Long-Nose-Needle-Plier-Jewellery-Craft-Beads-Beading-Pliers-Hobby-/132152821469?epid=908538047&hash=item1ec4ec0...

Re: Door 'courtesy' switches
As yours is a '55 car and hence a 'facelift' split-screen, my inclination would be to follow the section of the manual relating to Series II/1000/Traveller bodywork. The section on the MM bodywork is probably also of some relevence to early Series II with the 'cheesegrater' grille . What I find a b...

Yep, after having the boot shut for 48Hrs, not a whiff of petrol fumes when I opened it today.
It must have all been vapours permeating the old orange hose.
