Re: Two-door passenger lock removal puzzle
We may both be right re the passenger-side locking lever. I have seven of those genuine levers here, and only ONE has the spring-loaded pin as an additional retainer to keep it in the lock. Finding the (untagged) wishbone clip is hard enough - working almost blind inside the door with thin/nosey pli...

Re: Two-door passenger lock removal puzzle
Do not recall the locking swivel-lever having any other retainer: just the wishbone clip did that.
I attach a loop to the wishbone clip (for the future) after which with a bit of swivelling the lever comes out and so the handle assembly can be removed, after it's bolts are dealt-with. Good luck!

For anyone still needing these chrome clips, please see my suggestion made recently under "Wanted" and the discussion string relating to "Searching for the holy grail of MM parts!"

I may have a spare woodruff key for an MM if you still need it....would not be too costly to post, even from Australia!!

Re: Need some help on Full Steel Traveller from South America
It sounds now as if you may not have centred the jet, so that the new/changed needle is sticking and not sliding smoothly as you accelerate. The SU carby is usually pretty simple and reliable, once set-up correctly. Do you have details of how to overhaul one (from the Workshop Manual), or can I scan...

Great-looking and DIFFERENT car you have! Did you get your running problems fixed? It was all good advice given to check the air-filter, then the fuel mixture. One or all of those adjustments would make a dramatic difference to how the car performs. Any small parts can also be sourced from over here...

Re: 1949 mm bumper centre section
I do have the rear-bumper joining section, and it appears the same as the front but without the crank-handle hole. That - as needed - could be drilled and shaped as necessary I suppose. I'd need to research a price (they are "as rare-as"), and then there is the postage from Australia. Phil...

Re: Buying a 1950 Morris Minor
Yes, that sounds a pretty good price for a runner, even out here in Australia where the slowness of the Series MM means they are in limited demand. BTW, I have a super-rare chrome surround (in GC) for the rear window of a saloon/sedan. I believe they were only fitted originally to Export cars, and o...

Re: Morris Minor Sidevalve 1949
You will need to search for the specific radiator for that model. It has a rather large water capacity (while being low-set in the car) to compensate for the fact that the side-valve engine did not (by it's design) have a water pump. I'd imagine that someone in the Club may well have one that can be...

Replies made by PM just sit in Outbox....confusing!
I see this characteristic of the software has been raised before......
I have three PM items sitting in my Outbox, and it seems they do not move/cannot move till the addressee opens them up. Strange.

Re: Convertible Hood - 1951 MM
A friend here in Australia simply ordered one of the ready-made hoods from a supplier in England. He fitted it himself, but was never happy with how tight he could get it, and its tendency to flap around in the wind as he drove made him very displeased. As a result, I had a local, experienced "...

Re: Travellers found in Australia
Not imported officially, as far as I am aware, nor from my observation of the secondhand Traveller market. Out in Australia they are scarce, and only come up as the occasional private import. An acquaintance of mine sourced one into Melbourne out of NZ during the last decade simply because there wer...

Do not have any Factory data from Zetland, Sydney, but have been on the Morris Minor scene here in Melbourne for 40 yrs.....No Travellers were built here, and only the Tourers/Convertibles during Series MM and Series 2, nothing later. NZ seems to have been different. It is my impression that any Tra...

I have a spare pair of the shields you could have for the cost of postage (from Australia) if you want them.
(I previously sent you a drive-shaft section for the distributor).

Re: More 49 questions
That is a protective cover to go around the accelerator cable where it passes through the bulkhead, so is located just above the clutch pedal area, roughly. It is crucial that it be fitted, as otherwise an object lying on the parcel shelf could roll over there and jam the throttle open. Phil, Melbou...

Re: 1949 MM project. What right/wrong?
Great to see that you intend to restore this Series MM to original. I am in Melbourne, Australia and have found useful MM parts in NZ via Trade Me, and also that UK needs (wants to get back!) parts for the early cars! In those days it was "export or die"! I have a correct early MM bonnet l...

Re: Door advice please.....
I agree, the hinges show significant variations, and I have had lots of 'fun' trying various ones for their effect on door fit. I've removed paint (where it will not be seen) smoothed the backs of hinges by grinding, and hammered the area where the hinges fit onto the pillar, etc. Yes, the stainless...

Re: Quarter light catches
You can sometimes get new chrome pins that the latches swivel upon. So, you then take out the glass, change the broken latch for another and use a new pin, which I guess has to be peened over in some fashion. (Have never done that bit though!). Then reinstate or re-set the glass, using modern black ...
