Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
Indeed, and it does seem to me a bit of a stretch to describe light hearted comment as 'moaning'!

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
"the only thing we’ve both noticed is if she hasn’t warmed up enough she doesn’t like to stay running on the fast idol when you come to a stop and tends to stall so we find it’s better just to keep her on a bit choke till she fully warms up" Which is what I keep trying to tell you - that'...

Re: molding rear arches rather than piping
Well, someone may have done this successfully but, until they pop up on here and tell us, I would advise against it.

Re: Horn wiring - 1953 Series II
Are you sure the push button itself is providing a dead short when pressed? And its peripheral contact to the column's hub is good? Yes, I would be checking those. In any case its not difficult to remove the steering wheel - assuming you have the correct socket (I believe it is 3/4 whitworth, altho...

Re: Diff Breather
Can't see what's 'destructive' about unscrewing the breather by means of a screwdriver fitted into the slotted head. In any case, the tube, the hole in the tube and the space underneath the cap were pretty much as clean as a whistle. I made sure the drain holes in the brake back plates were clear wh...

Re: Diff Breather
Thanks Phil, I'll get me screwdriver out! Makes it easier than the modern plastic ones without a slot in the cap
I doubt this one will dismantle, but we'll see....

Diff Breather
So long since I've done this, I've forgotten...... I want to check the diff breather is clear. I can see the breather near the top of the diff casing. Its an old metal one and appears to have a groove in the cap, which I assume is for unscrewing the thing. Is it as simple as that - use a screwdriver...
Re: Tyre Wear
My wheels rotate every time I drive the car
But seriously, I don't know how many miles. The other tyres seem pretty good. Maybe it was a fault in the tyre?

Re: Lumenition Optronic PMC-50 (positive earth)
I just keep a spare set of points, Les. Never needed them.........
Re: Tyre Wear
Well, I couldn't find anything wrong so I took the car to a local classic car garage. They couldn't find anything wrong either. Its taken 10 years to wear to this point so, as its still within legal limits, I've put it in the boot as the spare and see how it goes.

Re: dual circuit brakes
The OP says he is looking "for a solution" but doesn't say to what..... I know that all of us drive modern cars which have dual circuit braking systems but have we ever actually needed them? I haven't. I have driven a Morris Minor for more than 50 years fitted with standard drum brakes an...

Whereabouts in Cornwall are 'ee, Paul? Truro/Falmouth is a bit vague - unless you live on the branch line train!
I'm in Truro itself.
Cheers,
Pete

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
Well, any of that is possible, its hard to know from a distance. On the other hand, these two ladies seem reluctant to actually use the choke (stories about starting up without choke when the car has been "covered in ice", or left out in winter for hours etc.). I have pointed out previousl...
