I've just spotted that the two upright triangles that should be on the top of the front rails which support the bulklhead and body aren't there. My bad - I guess you will need them, as I don't think they come with the replacemnt chassis repairs, so if the ones you have aren't salvageable and/or you ...

Not quite sure what's being said here, but avoid (at all costs) the "single copper strand" - it's not designed to move, and will break/fail in no time if used on a car. a Thats kind of what I was saying, When he sait household cable I was mearly pointing out the two types, not telling him...

Seconded re the additive - and just to say that male or female makes NO difference when it comes to dealing with factors. I've been told a billion times that what I asked for isn't what I want. V V irritating :(

Ray - I agree completely with what you say - but Andrew suggested that 20W50 was the 'factory ' spec - and it was not! Yes - ASDA 20W50 is fine. I use in engine and box. I stand corrected - spec from 1960 (the earliest I have to hand) was summer SAE 30, winter SAE 20. Bigger numbers are recommended...

Should I expect a cloud of asbestos dust when I take the covers off the drums? and more to the point who does new cylinders and pipes? or can I make my own pipes? Clouds of dust - probably not, but possible if the shoes on there are very old and etc etc Cyliinders and pipes - all the suppliers, non...

If you use the household wire, again not a problem but that is cable not flex. Cable has a single copper strand whereas flex is more what you want like on a desk top lamp. This is just an opinion, I am not an auto electrician. Someone with far more knowledge than me will tell you otherwise. Not qui...

Lack of oil is the most likely explanation. But if it's been run like that for a while - there may now be some damage to the box. I would drain it off - and refill with new oil - 20/50 or 10/40 is fine. Factory recommended 20/50, same as the engine, as did all workshop manuals until the end of prod...

Agree with all the above, but have to say that the last possible thing you need is to move the fan forwards. I too have had problems with the blades hitting the radiator surround. Currently unresolved, but I'm hoping (when I get time) to space the rad surround/holder up a few mil - I'm running LCVs ...
