Series MM Brake Cylinders

Forgive me for entering the hallowed MM section but my brakes are MM type even if my car isn't. (Early S11) I am in need of a front RH Brake Cylinder - Does anyone know where these are available at a reasonable price. I seem to recall someone making some with a stainless steel liner - any more detai...

RE: Hubcap

Hi Shawn

Originally the "M" on the hubcaps were always unpainted -all bright chrome - personally I dont like to see them painted but as always its each to their own.

RE: Can Mazac be re-chromed?

Hi Woo Most of the minors chrome trim (light rims, grill surrounds, badges etc) were made from Mazac which is a die-cast zinc based alloy. This can be successfully restored/re-plated but you need to find a decent electroplater who deals with auto-chrome. There only seems to be a handfull of these in...

Hi all
Flashing indicators came on Minors in Aug 61 so if prior to this - ok for MOT not to have them

Both Rose Taupe & its replacement - Peat had GR paint codes (GR27 & 30) so BMC classed them as greyish.

To follow on from Vernons point - the actual millionth car made would have received a "normal" chassis no whatever they were up to (ie not 1000000 as the sequence started at 501 and some were missed out). It was to celebrate I million production that the limited edition of 350 total was ma...

Hi all To clarify - The Minor Millions were given chassis nos out of sequence. The first being 1000000 registered as 1 MHU assembled on 22 Dec 1960 - used extensively for publicity during 1961 - then there were 349 "replicas" made - chassis nos 1000001 - 1000349. These 349 were distributed...

Hi Andy The Minor Gearbox has synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd & 4th gears but not on 1st & reverse. You only need 1st gear to pull away from a standstill. Any movement at all & 2nd gear should be used so you should not engage 1st gear on the move. You should not have to put it into 2nd gear befo...

Hi Pat

D'oh - With you not listing your location I did'nt think of you - there was a similar no car in Rugby area & I've also seen several other single H plates all on early series 11 cars must have been a trend at the time.
Will promise to be more alert in future esp at club metings.

I dont think thats correct as all Minors with the slatted type grill (which started in 55-56 ish) until the end of prodution were painted with Old English White. Hi Kevin I seem to have stirred up a hornet's nest here with changing Grille & Wheel colours - I was quoting from our esteemed Club S...

Hi Jeff It all depends what year your Moggy is. Up to Feb 1959 Grills were usually Body colour, Feb 59 - July 60 Pearl Grey, July 60 - Oct 67 Old English White - Wheels were usually the same colour as Grille. Oct 67 onwards Grille was Snowberry White & Wheels Dark Silver. Old English White is mo...

Hi Pat
I'm sure your car was in Rugby area Late 80s early 90s or certainly a very similar no - definately 4 nos H. As I recall this was a Green Early Series 11 Saloon.
Are you in MMOC - contact Rugby Branch
