Re: Reshaping traveller side panels
Even greater care and subtlety required for Aluminium I agree. Very gentle, carefully judged work required with ally sheet to avoid causing more harm than good. As Mogbob said, protection for the painted surfaces will be required. The susceptibility of paintwork to damage will depend to a degree on...

Re: Reshaping traveller side panels
Mogbob I don't mean to detract from your advice, but these panels at the back of Travellers are aluminium, not steel.Steel body panels have a tendency to want to spring back to the distorted position.

Cunifer makes more sense to me -- Cu for copper, ni for nickel and fer for ferrous.I can never work out whether it's meant to be spelt with a 'C' or a 'K'??
Without searching the web for answers, I don't know where the Ku comes from.

Re: Changing boot lock barrel
Below is the post that I think that the link should have taken you to: From contributor, Jefftav When you have the bootlock out is there 2 small studs in the chrome handle bit as this is what keep the handle in position and you access the nuts from inside the bootlid(a bit fiddly). With the handle o...

JJConsider fitting a solid-state regulator which I can highly recommend.
Can you give an example (or examples) a make and model that you think would be suitable?

Re: Trafficators
In today's road environment, trafficators are an anachronism. Most road users will not have seen trafficators being used. They will not understand their meaning nor will they be attuned to watching for them to mysteriously appear from the middle of the car. I would support their restoration as a his...

Re: Speedo needle swinging wildly
I think engine oil should be OK. It would be good if you could wait for at least a few hours after oiling --or preferably overnight--before reassembling and driving and to allow the oil to creep down the cable. While the speedo is out and drive cable off, you could also check for excessive friction ...

Re: Running rich but stuttering (and stinks!)
There will be plenty of experts along soon, but the best advice I can give you is to avoid changing many things at one time. It seems to be a fuel problem, so take cautious steps to identify the cause until you have solved the problem or eliminated the fuel system as the cause. My 2 bobs worth. Best...

Re: Speedo needle swinging wildly
I agree with Boomlander's diagnosis. You could start by releasing the speedo from the dash and checking that the cable connection is properly screwed to the back of the speedo. While there, you could try putting a very modest amount of oil the the end of the cable. The amount must be kept small to a...

Hi mobotman are they easy to fit Yes. Although, getting the timing right after fitting might involve some fiddling. do you have to do ignition timing after Yes. There are reports on here that you will need to rotate the distributor quite a bit. That might depend on which system you choose. should i ...

Re: Brake fades heart sinks!
Hi Surfergirl It may be that the surface of the shoes are not well matched to the curvature of the drums. I have heard of a case where the friction material needed to be machined by a brake specialist to correct a mismatch. This resulted in much better braking performance. If there is a mismatch in ...

Re: Clutch judder
the driveline angle is not completely straight - i.e. the end of the gearbox points downwards a bit as does the differential nose. So the propshaft UJ's are always at an angle The UJs have to be at an angle. They will not work correctly if they are perfectly in line. In fact in-line UJs are a poten...

Re: Starting problems
As you will gather from the above posts, you will have to give us some clues to work with. For example, what was the engine's behaviour just prior to developing the failure to start? Anything suggesting a developing problem? Did you change a engine part or setting prior to the problem? What is happe...

Re: what is up with these wheels??
It appears that someone has found some wheels with nearly the correct PDC (Pitch Circle Diameter -- the positioning of the studs) and filed out the holes to get them to fit the Minor. The Minor has a PCD (4X4" or 4x101.6mm) shared by very few other cars.

Make sure you leave an air gap when you refill. Overfilling may cause leakage.
