Re: 1959 indicator stalk

I've seen this before. The stalk is supposed to be angled back towards the driver, but it's swivelled round so it's pointing downwards (as if you were indicating right) when you are not indicating. On my mate's car, the plastic end was held together with sellotape, so he replaced the stalk with one ...

Re: Push or Pull?

Noticeable is the operative word, Why do all modern cars have electric fans, are they cheaper or simpler than fixed ones? There have been lots of attempts to improve the way the fan works over the years, with good reason. The vast majority of modern cars have transverse engines, so to use an engine...

Re: rocker cover question

Might be worth converting to the 'canister' type breather system as used on the late 1098s?

Re: Having a go at welding

I've just started a Level 1 welding course (MIG) at my local college. I've had 4 sessions so far, and I'm managing to lay down some decent beads. Considering that I've got co-ordination issues (I'm banned from dancefloors under HSE guidelines!), I'd say that if I can pick it up that quickly, anyone ...

I'd start by checking the earth on the dim one.

There are more than one way to skin a cat (please note no cats were harmed in the making of this post) If you want to incorporate indicators into the original rear lamps take a look here:- http://morrisminorowners.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1809&p=76849&hilit=led+rear+lights#p76849 If yo...

Re: 8 Point question / advice wanted,

The Zetec is a great engine, but it won't fit without cutting, which rules out the whole '8 point' plan. A modified shell means an automatic BIVA test.
A crossflow can be fitted without cutting, if you use a remote oil filter and measure carefully.

Re: 8 Point question / advice wanted,

Personally, I'd keep the torsion bars, and use the 2 points to swap the rear axle. A Minor axle won't last long behind a 1600 crossflow. I'd go for a Marina/Dolomite axle, that would be up to the job and a damn sight cheaper than an Escort one. Incidently, if you've got the original speedo, it has a...

Re: New member - 1968 Austin pickup

That's a really nice pickup. Very clean but not over-restored, I'm just about old enough to remember seeing new Minors on the road, and this is how I remember them.

Have you checked the vacuum advance tube/pipe? I had similar symptoms to this with a split pipe.

There's someone on Retro Rides that may have an A15 for sale (not sure if it's an auto though)

I'm surprised you got that in without cutting the bulkhead. The Pinto's not exactly compact.

Re: Windscreen Wiper Problem

I have just received and installed the new 90 degree wheel and it gives the correct sweep, so at last my wiper project is finished! I now have intermittent (delay settable between 3 and 30 seconds), slow and fast all through a headlight pull/twist/pull switch with the 'W' knob on. Also have wash/wi...

I have Ford type discs fitted to my car as per Mike picture the callipers are to the front of the car. Not seen Marina discs but looking at Mike picture the calliper is to the rear of the car. So this is another difference in the two types That's odd, I've got Marina discs and the calipers are at t...

I would either go for a standard cam, or something like the Piper HR255 cam which gives more gains in the low-mid revs range

Re: An ( Auto ) Alternative Vacation In South West france.

Some nice old iron there, really liked the Model A that was next to the MGB.
Incidentally, Alec Issigonis was hugely impressed by the Citroen Traction Avant, an it is said to have influenced his thinking when designing the Minor.
