Yup. Thanks for the reminder. I've done it before when the aeroplane ran a Bosch 009 distributor but I've converted it to run 2 fully electronic variable timing systems using Ford Mondeo trigger and coil packs. I run 3 ATDC below 600 rpm to prevent nasty kick-back during hand-propping the engine in ...

Cheers. Cast boss on the SV manifold gave a hint! I know that the HIF44 has the 'weird throttle plate' take-off and that the 1330 Midget engine has had the take-off moved towards the engine as part of the tuning process on the rolling road. He did explain why but it was a bit over my head at the tim...

Series 2 vac port for dissy. Where?
I'm after the exact location in the intake tract for the take-off of vac for the dissy. Some cars use the vac measured after the throttle and some are measured at the lip of the throttle plate. Makes a difference. I have a knackered 1952 Sidevalve dissy (on the '52 sidevalve) and have replaced it wi...

I'd say that you want it in the head so that it still reads hot after the water has all leaked out. If you've not got a heater then an MG Midget adaptor will go into the head at the rear and will allow the cap to fit perfectly. Some SV water stubs that bolt to the side of the crankcase behind the dy...

You'd have a bit of trouble putting the Midget axle in. About 5 inches narrower, IIRC! Midget shafts, however are stronger material if the serial number starts with BTA (BTA806, IIRC) and are worth a little cash. No good for a minor, though. 948 shafts MAAAAAAAAY be a lower grade material than 1098 ...

I'm in Llantwit Major, about 5 miles away. Glad to help. Have built more than a dozen cars (plus some aircraft and aircraft engines), so, I guess I have the qualifications. Rob 01446 795489 I get home on tuesday just after lunch to Cardiff airport. You could meet me there if you wanted. You'd need t...

Maybe I need a bit more 'bedding in'? It is in the Lenham Midget and is pushing a much lighter car (albeit not as light as the spaceframe midget!) http://www.spritespot.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=toomanyspridgets PS Thanks for the little metal plate, matey! It'll be cleaned up and fitt...

1098 clutch cover upgrade. Hillman Hunter?
Has anyone got 'the gen' on the correct cover to upgrade the cover plate pressure on the 1098 clutch? I'm after a cover to stop the slip on this A+ 1275 engine and have faint recollections that a Hunter 1.7 cover had the same diameter and took a carbon thrust bearing. Any ideas? I have a new 1098 Mi...
