Re: Newbie Help Please

Fresh petrol in the carb bowl and some of that easy start can help as long as the mechanical above and the ignition side of things are good enough.

Re: non-starting puzzle! help please

I'm probably going to change the condenser , car has been stood for 10 years approx. ( nearly pullled the back off a Fiat something or other trying to pull it out the garage - its still in there ). Newish battery and we have a working starter motor, petrol (too much and might be a bit old - the pump...

Re: a few halogen questions

On these units (I have bought , but not fitted), for earlier cars, would you run the side light wire into them, leaving the Front flasher only on the existing sidelights ?)

Re: non-starting puzzle! help please

Did it get fixed, was it the fuse box contacts?

interesting unsolved one for me. Test lamp remains glowing for a bit more of the engine - I'm turning it on the handle , (dimly) would that suggest condensor is failing (not instantanously discharging?)

Re: Invisible to cameras?

The cameras many car parks use are a cheaper , less 'intelligent' than the Dartford Crossing / Police (uncertain about the the auto smart motorway cameras ) cameras. The smarter ones can also work out the Square Format plates often seen on van rear doors.

Re: seized brake cylinder

I have a number of rears on the bench , with handbrake levers disconnected , I assume I fill a nice grease gun with brake fluid and apply a few times with luck the piston parts should pop out. Clean up, check for any leakage or excess wear then reassemble as required. As said only a small movement o...

Re: How to Repair this Switch (Indicator Stalk)

The Lucas steering colum indicator switch is the largest pain to repair in the world. I have about 5 in the roundtuit pile. I will try to write a bit of a guide (unless there is one on a thread here already) about how it can be done. It is a mix of mechanical parts - return springs etc, the insulati...

Re: Stop Light Switch (948cc) Problem / Help

The new switches dont seem to be the nice brass finish. I am thinking, that given the slight spongy on the pedal , unscrew, check switch off car , refit if OK , then bleed through again. (from memory start bleeding from the longest runs ( or as best as possible on the rears ) , then the fronts ) Nic...

Possibly the little brass conector inside switch body has broken , after a number of years toggling they can wear a bit.

Re: Installing new radiator, question on the hose

As ever its the compromise between originallity (so it wont win prizes for best in class - assuming the MMOC judges twig the differences on the early 1000s (!). And usability. Were the 1000s and late MMIIs the first to have factory fitted heaters rather than the aftermarket add on ones. You might ne...

Stop Light Switch (948cc) Problem / Help

Having passed its MOT the 4door has now decided not to show brake lights !. Connecting the two wires makes the circuit and the lights glow properly. I presume it makes no difference which grub screw hole the wires go to ? ( the +ve feed being isolated in the switch (?? is that the failure on this un...

Re: Full width traveller rear door

Didn't the Minx based Hillman Husky (And Commer Cob Van?) have one piece side hinged doors ? - Though they had metal pillars, there might be some Minor vans with one piece doors too - The Dutch built version I think had those as an option.

Re: Hi,need quick answer please,1956 2 door seat in 65 traveller

So far as I can see , the interior front door cards and front seats for 1000 series minors are interchangeable with no difference in securing locations or other apertures. Tilting and/or adjustable seats may be fitted as you wish depending on usability or originallity levels sought.
