Well, I just got the replacement spring sent by ESM.
It's the same 4" long.
Seems the guy at their end was only measuring the Spring body, not the overall length hook to hook.... although the new one they sent is about 1/16th" shorter.

Re: Pictures
Well it must be back as KeithL now has an image showing.
Also, I just did a couple of trial uploads, including one of 3.6 MB and it previewed OK.

Re: Brake Pedal Spring
A quick response from ESM this morning, having sent them my photo as posted here, which shows the one they sent as being approximately 4" long. Thanks for your message. I think you have been sent the incorrect spring. The ones I have here measure around 2 ¼ “ I will arrange for another to be se...

Re: Brake Pedal Spring
Has the chassi leg been changed? My replacement leg come without the bracket for the return spring. I carelfull measured and replicated in thr new leg but if you did not do this it may have resulted in an incorrect spring mount and thus the new spring won't work Absolutely no idea, the last work of...

Re: Brake Pedal Spring
Very good point Phil
It just seems very soft as it so much longer, but then if I had a botched spring in their before....
It'll be a few days before I get a chance to do anything else to the car anyway, so it won't hurt to just check with them about the length.
It is brakes after all.....

Re: Brake Pedal Spring
Phil That's the one I ordered, but it doesn't say how long it is.... It wouldn't surprise me to find a repurposed Brake Shoe Return spring was in there, but it would have to have been carefully done, as the small hook would be bent back 360 degrees the opposite side.... I think Les is possibly right...

Re: New key, new problem.
What is the problem...?? There are 2 position switches available, they just cost more than 3 position. But as already said, you can fit a 3 position, just don't use the 2nd ON/Start position, which is Sprung loaded anyway. For 'Safety' you could always link the 2nd & 3rd position Contacts.... ht...

Brake Pedal Spring
Hi All So as I'm overhauling the Master Cylinder due to it leaking, I thought I'd replace the Brake Pedal Spring while I'm in there. Has anyone else had a Brake Pedal Spring from ESM recently? It fits but it's pretty weak due to the length compared to the one I've taken out. 1/3rd longer than the ol...

Re: Brittle wire to Dynamo
Being partially colour blind makes these sort of jobs a bit more problematic. Hi Yes, that's evident from your description, although, I must admit the colours can be difficult with the age of the wiring. On the earlier Wiring Diagrams, the Dynamo output is listed only as Yellow, on latter diagrams ...

As I haven't actually read a Highway Code publication for lots (and lots!) of years I thought I would buy the latest edition and see what all the fuss is about. I was told (WH Smith's) that it won't be available until - April!!! Alan Have a look here, it's cheaper..... https://www.gov.uk/guidance/t...

Re: WHATS THIS PIPE?
I really was expecting a photo, seeing as the significant majority of the population have a phone camera..... Not a lot of choice with it being a Pipe to the carb, the first thought is it's an engine with a solid vacuum advance, but not starting? The mixture would have been a bit lean, but I suppose...

I'm not a member of Ebay UK, just Ebay USA. The USA site lets us flag a possibly bogus ad soon as we see it. It's usually taken down within 24 hours. Does the Ebay UK site allow its members to flag (or report) ads? Yes it does. The page is the same over here. The very listing that alawrence10360 ha...

Re: Brake master cylinder - original or aftermarket?
I agree. Having recently found that my MC was leaking, I waited until I had removed it, to check the size marked on it and then, having looked at the condition of the bore, I decided to order a seal kit.

You never answered the question about free play on the Brake Pedal, the very first question that you were asked. The 1st suggestion to look at the...

A point here, cyclists should be forced to wear high-viz clothing, or at least a top. Also the use of lights should be enforced. And any caught not doing so should be stopped by police and charged when caught. The amount I've seen cycling around in dark clothing with no lights, especially after dar...

You're only stuck explaining yourself because you made false assumptions without asking questions first and confused matters. From your post How did you wire the four way flasher into the DB10? Depending on how you did it, power can back feed into the ignition circuits and the engine can run on each...

Re: Indicators
Yes, to Bill who added four way flashers via the DB10. Non-switch power must be supplied to the flasher switch which in turn will activate the solenoids in the DB10. The now working rear turn signals will also cause 12v to be present at the brake light switch. Press the brakes and the ignition swit...

How did you wire the four way flasher into the DB10? Depending on how you did it, power can back feed into the ignition circuits and the engine can run on each flash. My experience is once the ignition issue is resolve, you'll find that the flashers will not work indefinitely. Either the flasher un...
