Good ones can be had from about £30, but the really cheap ones can fail quickly, usually motors or bearings, if you're cutting thicker steel and doing a lot of wire brushing it can be a bit much for them. Having two is a good idea, its nice to have a cutting disc on one and a flap disc on the other ...

Wobble bolts can be used to fit wheels of a slighty different PCD, is this what you mean by an angled taper? You must supprt the wheel by the centre bore however.

Re: tyre availiability

i was wondering what peoples views were.i dont need new tyres at presant but i was browsing the suppliers websites ,and the standard size tyre seems to nearly out of stock.i know they are availiable from other componies, but at a premium.what worries me is that tyres are a fundamental thing for the ...

That is odd! But at least you can have track/road tyre sets or just winter/summer sets. I run 195/50r15s on my e30 beemer which has 15 x 7" wheels. It seems a good size for price and choice. I've been running Toyo Proxes T1r tyres which are superb mix of wet and dry grip and only about £35 each!

I'd be worried about using a thinner oil unless its very good quality. If the film strength is not as good the box will wear faster. SAE30 may have originally been specified, but then having to have your gearbox rebuilt was far more common then! It was probably specified as SAE 40 or 50 would be far...

Does anyone still make that twin downpipe for RWD cars ? Still available for EW installation in Mini/Metro of course - but not easily adapted to NS engine ! Yes it's still available. http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1974&osCsid=1aabeb288b24cf91bc5f0c42e3ca5788 I ...

Indeed, and there is a twin downpipe available for these manifolds, even if you don't buy one a picture should be good for some inspiration.

Got any for a Series MM as well? Early king pins are still about. I'm sure I've seen some advertised in the club mag. Of course these are no good later cars (post '54). As for king pins, who in their right mind is going to stump up tens of thousands to produce kinpins when new ones are bing ...

Its worth noting though before people splash out on radius arms and tele shocks that a standard 1098 will quite happily tramp with knackered springs but will struggle to get any hop with new or refurbished springs, and they don't need to be 7 leaf! Tired springs are usually why the cars tramp, unles...

So it has a positive affect on handling because of the lower center of gravity? I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't have a detrimental affect on handling. It will have a detrimental affect if the cars sitting on its bump stops! Once the bump stops are reached and compressed you have no suspension!

Exactly, but despite what many claim on here, most consumers worry mostly about price. When there's a choice I have no sympathy.

Best bet is to ask the bodyshops which are good and bad panels rather than the suppliers who really in the famous words 'don't give a damn' Or ask the suppliers, then buy the cheap ones against their strong reccomendation, which I think you'll find is the case. The reason most suppliers stock patte...

In the seventies we used to use 'anti tramp' bars on our jacked up custom cars these bolted to the centre of the spring at the axle and when the spring wound up the fronts of the bars went up and hit the front spring pivot point effectivley locking the suspension, I never had a car with enough powe...

You starter motor is the later J type and has different brushes, the wedge shape ones you have pictured. It's probably had a replacement starter motor as this type wasn't originally fitted. Try ringing around suppliers to get the later type of brushes.

Eyebolt bushes are the same as rear spring bushes, only the ones in the body at the rear are different. ESM do a front and rear kit and then axle pads and rear damper bushes, I assume most places are similar.

I believe most of the spax dampers used in kits are fully adjustable I think you will find that all commonly available 'adjustable' dampers only adjust the 'rebound' not the 'bump'? Apparently the ones in the owen burton kit are adjustable for bump and rebound. I was going to use this kit on the re...

have lowered the front (and rear), and also cut off about 1" from both front and rear bump stops - also reshaped them to put back the 'progression' shape, i.e. the cone. The dampers are Koni telescopic all round - the fronts were re-valved by Koni to be 30% stiffer on bump and are set to full ...

I agree, one of the thoughts behind the stronger bars was allowing a slightly lower ride height without hammering the bump stops. I think the handling would benefit from a lowered roll centre and may possible control the roll and front wallow the minor suffers from. But then I may be wrong which is ...
