I saw the lovely polished alloy bodied Kirkham (Cobra 427 Replica) below at the recent Stonleigh Kit Car Show. Body work has to be super straight for it to work, but it isn't my cup of tea. Too gimikey. Regards Ian<br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1249674237_9675 <br><br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mb...

Always willing to admit an error.

The sticker on the fuel pump should be the yellow SU type (not Lucas which is also yellow) and the ends of the spark plug leads should indeed be unpainted copper.

Same Concours standards apply for 2009 so I understand. Very nice Traveller by the way. There are a couple of other quick details you could carry out to make the engine bay a little 'sharper'. There is a 'Lucas' sticker missing from the petrol pump aswell. The bonnet folding support should be respra...

Hi Dan, Regarding your enquiry about glove box clocks I presume you are talking about the MM/Series II Gold dashboard clocks? These are quite difficult to find and more difficult to find in good condition and working. Twenty years ago now, I had decided I wanted to restore a Series II Convertible an...

From my experiences with difficult heads over the years - I would recommend tapping it back down to the block first using timber cushions so you know it is 'square' to the studs, and start the process again. Add releasing fluid down the stud holes (over night) and see if any studs can be removed the...

With the silver flash down the bonnet it looks something like a Vauxhall Wyvern.

The only show I know that's on in November is the National Classic Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham on around the first or second weekend of the month. The club usually has a stand but the cars probably won't be for sale. There is a section of the show set aside specifically for classics for sale, ...

Hi Jess, If it just the boot lock you want a key for, then if the lock can be removed from the bootlid you will find the key number stamped on the main square pivot shaft that connects the handle to the claw. It will be three numbers. This won't help if the bootlid is locked shut. (Rest of post mode...

Just dropped in on this thread. I saw a 1959 Black 4 Dr at the Barnsley Branch Rally a few weeks ago. A lovely original car with its original shiny black paintwork polished through to the undercoat in places, sporting a red body stripe, grey wheels and grey grille. A real time capsule. When I looked...

Very sorry to hear about your accident, and wish you a speedy recovery.

Just a thought about the lorry driving off - were there any cctv cameras in the vicinity? They could be used to trace the vehicle.

It has made me rethink about fitting seat belts to my Series II.

Very difficult this. Over the last thirty years - ish I have owned the following second hand cars. 1964 Mini 850 BYP 344B (standard apart from internal tweaks to the engine and an interior retrimmed in deep fur! I can assure you it was very tasteful at the time) 1967 Morris Minor 2Dr KHY 789F 1970 M...

Hi Bossk, I'll have a stab and if I get it wrong someone on here will correct me. The chassis plates shown are normally associated with older Series II splitscreen cars whereas your Chassis number starting with 701 denotes a car from 1959. A new style of chassis plate was introduced in 1958 which is...

Back on topic. I have a Morris Minor book published by Autocar that contains reproduced news articles, road test etc., and in it are a couple of articles from the early fifties showing after market convertible accesories for the MM Series Minor. Sorry for the poor photo quality but the images in the...

That engine may be a little difficult on the street. I have opted for a more modest 7.5 litre Big Block Ford giving 510Bhp and 550 Lb ft torques. Remember perspective all depends on where you are viewing from. Now where's that shoe horn! Ian<br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1239917052_9675 <br>

Hi there, I have just recently re-joined the MMOC after a huge absence. My original membership number was well before Sir Alec's (Issigonis not Fergusson). Originality

Hi there, I've just recently re-joined the club after a huge absence and have set myself the task of rebuilding the covertible in the attached photo. I will try and get the car to concours standard but I would like to drive it aswell. I too think originality is the key to a concours vehicle but as y...
