Re: happy new year
Happy new year to you all! Now is the time to start doing all the jobs to the moggy that I've been meaning to get done over winter but haven't quite started yet, spring now seems not quite so far away

Re: Rover 75 vs Mondeo for everyday car.
Just an update 2 months on. After just over a week of ownership I had to replace the clutch master cyl on the MG, the week after that it was the clutch assy & slave cyl quickly followed by the gearchange cables. A dashboard light fault took some tracking down but we sorted it in the end. I then ...

Sidelight bulb query
Just a quick question, does anyone know offhand what bulbs should be in the front sidelights of my 1968 saloon, are they 12v 5w BA15S?
Thanks.
Neil.
Thanks.

Thanks guys, I'll order a pair of gaitors (and maybe a pair of track rod ends too, they look like the originals) and have a go

Re: Disc Brakes
If you have a servo fitted it may be ok, but I had a midget disc conversion on my minor without a servo and it was dreadful. Replaced it with standard 8" drums and they're an improvement!

Steering rack query.
I noticed today when doing a couple of jobs on my Minor that the gaiter on passenger side of my steering rack is split. What's the best way of going about repairing this? Is it fairly straightforward to remove the track rod end, slip the gaiter off the end of the rack and replace it or is it best to...

Nice to work on!
Seeing as the weather was so nice for the time of year today I dragged my Minor out of the garage and spent a pleasant couple of hours replacing a bump stop, greasing the front suspension and sorting out one or two little jobs that were advisories on the last mot, very much enjoyed it too :D . Then ...

Re: Escaping door handle!
Thanks guys.
I've ordered a new pin (two in fact, incase I drop one ) from ESM.
Wish I'd thought though I should have ordered a new quarterlight rubber seal at the same time to try to stop my leaks.

Escaping door handle!
About a month ago I was out in my Minor & the drivers door handle came off in my hand when I went to open the door! Luckily it's a late saloon with a lock on the passenger door so I got in this way to open the drivers door and when I had a look at it at home the pin that the exterior handle pivo...

Re: Rover 75 vs Mondeo for everyday car.
Thankyou. We haven't been far in it yet but I must admit I'm very impressed with it so far.
And it does look very good having the little morris and the big MG estate on the drive, they kind of complement each other

Yipee she passed!!
I'm very chuffed, my Minor passed her mot today (the first one while I've owned it-always a worry).
Just a couple of advisories to sort out, play in one front wheel bearing, weeping rear shock but nothing serious and he commented how good & solid all the underneath is.
I love my car!

Mines like that! Fits at the top and bottom but in the middle on both sides you can nearly get your fingers through the gap

Apart from striking lucky at an autojumble I dont know where to obtain nos hoses. Do any of the regular Minor suppliers sell silicon hoses to fit Minors?

Re: Please check...
I've just checked my kevlar reinforced hoses which again came from a well known Minor specialist and they've already got small cracks showing and they've only been fitted for just over TWO MONTHS! These were supposed to be the better quality improvement over standard hoses! Where is it possib...

Re: Do I need new springs?
I've just checked the levels, engine oil is on the max & gearbox oil is full.
Very strange Maybe it's oil that's just been sat trapped somewhere & having the car at an angle for a few days has encouraged it to drip off?? I'll just keep an eye on it like you suggest.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Do I need new springs?
Odd though that normally it barely leaks a drip from the split pin hole until I leave it nose down with the back end up on axle stands for a few days and then it leaks profusely :-? Funny thing is though that when I dipped my fingers in it and smelt it (as you do  ) it smelt more like gearbox o...

Re: Do I need new springs?
I've taken your advice, trimmed some rubber off the bumpstops. I drained my rear shocks, flushed them with new oil and refilled them with sae 40, it's a long overdue job by the look of it, the small amount of oil that came out was black & stinking! Took the opportunity to clean the shocks and pa...

Re: New distributor
Simonbbc always seems to be out of stock nowadays, but acc-spark on ebay is selling brand new complete 45D4 dizzy for £27.99, not genuine Lucas but made for accu-spark. Even if it's got the wrong ignition curve I cant imagine it'd be much worse than an original with 40 years of wear ( which of cours...
