my understanding is that you cannot determine the points opening position by conventional means. You install the distributor aligning as well as you can with the dizzy removed. Then get the engine started, and time with a timing light.
Follow instructions that come with the new dizzy.

The half shaft arrived without left/right markings. That's ok, because it's about 2 inches too short.
It's a BTA 806, for sprites and midgets. I guess they're a bit narrower cars. I'm back to searching for a ATA7057. Never too old to learn.

I put accuspark components into my dizzy. It ran great for about 15 miles. Then it ran no more. I had to be towed home. I put the points back in and haven't had a problem.

I put an alternator in my Morris minor last week, and it's very easy. I used a #14029A from advance auto parts, $65. I bought two used regulators on Ebay, and pulled the guts out of them. Terminals A and A1 are connected. I ran a jumper to terminal D. After my surgery, Terminals E and F aren't conne...

I have to adjust my camber. What is the diameter of the eye bolt? I can find washers locally, but I'd like to have them at hand before energizing the wrenches.
