2008 LEO (Lands End to Orkney) Run

Right guys and gals, the date of next years Orkney Vintage Rally is 10th August, and therefore the 9th August is when we are intending to cross to Orkney.

Firstly, I don't wan't any cries of, 'oooooh thats as a long way off, I've got loads of time' and secondly as it's the 60th Aniversary year of the Morris Minor, I wan't lots of ' yes, definitely's'. The 2007 posting had over 24,000 hits, so come on we can do much better, 60 years, 60 cars? .....and no it's not impossible, think of MOT.

My plan is to include as many of the ideas put forward as possible, and also to make it a part of the MMOC's Million Mile Challenge.

So why not make this a holiday run for next year, and a really memorable event :D

Have you read my 2007 trip report? You arrange your own accommodation (personally I like Youth Hostels). The mileage was about 300-400 miles a day, but apparently 2008 might be a bit different. A 'scenic' route has been discussed.

It would be good to see you join us Dale. The report in the next issue of Minor Matters should give you a feel for how it works.

This years event started at Lands End on the 9th August and ended at the Orkney show on 12th August. With next years show taking place on the 10th August, depending on the route, attractions visited etc we could be looking at about a week prior to this as a starting date.

Looks like everyone is thinking a year's a long way off. However it is in fact only 10 month's now  and you might like to know that we have already booked for next years MOT, as have probably quite a few MMOC members. If I'm going to arrange any 'deals' etc, it would be nice to get some idea of numbers.
