I wish I could !

Have you noticed they are not mentioned in the schedule of events for this years National? They appear to have been replaced by a Balloon man.

Rapide Brothers.....
who I notice were, along with their parents, given a new award at last years National - the 'True Club Spirit Award' for their outstanding contribution.

There are a number of 'special' awards given out by the Club each year. Just out of interest, how does this work? Are Branches asked to nominate individuals to receive these?

AGM - Oxford - Birthplace of the Morris - 60th Anniversary - Lets hope that all of the Committee arrive in their Morris Minors

Awards - Not sure how this works myself. I was Chief Concours Judge for seven years, and during this time attended every Regional, and National Rally, as well as many others, and didn't receive one

Any member can nominate someone for a special award or regular award (there are some presented every year at the AGM), however the one's I've noticed have all been nominated by committee members.
Sadly this gives the impression of 'ivory towers' but in reality it's just that any awards/nomination process is badly publicised (i.e. not at all) to the members.

And unfortunately it's this sort of thing that isn't helping to attract or keep members.

On the positive side this could be easily remedied by simply keeping the members informed about what is going on. Just a small article in Minor Matters explaining the awards process and asking members to submit nominations, either by post or e-mail, would help.

Absolutely Louise. Poor communication is I believe a major factor, and something I have raised on a number of occasions.

It's been suggested already, for this exact reason.

Do we have a suggestion box which is very close to the bin?

It seems to me that very few suggestions no matter how good actually happen.

Is the website going to have a branch avenue stand? Would be a good meeting place other than the bar!
Roger has got this in hand.

Andrew would you like me to bring along some teabags as lastyear I think you got through a few and this year you might get swamped with orders as the website location was quietly located in the camping field before but this year it will be in full view of all :D

Exactly why I have not renewed my MMOC membership after many loyal years. The MMOC comes across, to me, as being a selective clique.
Similarly for this message board as well. I do drop by and have a look occasionally but no longer post for this exact reason. Also the over moderation.
I stopped posting after one new (clue in the word) moderator deleted a post because it was not to his particular liking in spite of it being within guidelines etc. and there being no objections about it. :(

I like to think this messageboard is not a 'clique'

same here.

With any group of people who chat regularly, meet up occasionally and get to know each other quite well, there'll always be some in jokes etc... however on here I'm always pleasantly surprised that newbies are readily welcomed.
I've not been on as frequently this year and am amazed how many new people are now around.
