If anyone is going tomorrow hopefully the Herts Branch will have a gazebo up and I also believe some of those from MM rally will also be going so say hello if you do go

Well it was a cracking day and nice to meet up with Squiggle and Roger Rust and another couple of members from Oxford branch.
I think the highlight of Chrissie day was having 3 AA breakdown men looking under her bonnet

and agreeing that it was her battery that was causing her problems which had already been diagnosed by other Minor owners and I think that at one time there were around 8 heads looking under the bonnet

I'm sure she won't mind me telling you. She was going fine when I left her about 5 miles from home. But the battery finally died and the engine cut out as she arrived home. Nicely timed I thought!.

I agree, it was a really good day. Has given me confidence to do more this year after being a hermit as regards crowds ...... many thanks.

Good to meet some new faces too.

It always impresses me how kind people are. So willing to help.

Interestingly, Bedford Battery tested the battery and it's perfectly ok!

The cavalry [Roger Rust] will arrive later today with his 'diagnostic toys'.

I think there were 12 guys looking at it at one time......someone took a photo of them.

Turned into my street and the car cut out. Approx 6 youngsters were thrilled to help push me into a safe spot. Who said the youth of today are all bad! They seem fascinated with that car.

Looking forward to the National.

Might even join the AA next year when my breakdown cover expires

Mr CavalryMan [RogerRust] has just left.......

He's a great teacher, most interesting!

Made me want to buy some of those diagnostic tools.

Was the control box and, luckily for some strange reason, I bought one a few months ago.......just incase.....

All is well now.

Are you paying attention Mr AAman

The contacts on the old voltage regulator have more or less disappeared. Shame really it looks like it is dated'52 so was probably the original one. I wonder if you can replace the points?

It was sticking which was why the battery was going flat but not regulating which is why the battery wouldn't charge.

Dynamo produced a health 14.5 v when I connected the field wiring to the battery at just over normal tick over. The brushes are getting a bit low, but probably good for years yet!

As Squiggle said she had a spare voltage regulator so we swapped it and now it is charging nicely.

We're always pleased to see any of the Support Services - the more "heads under the bonnet" the quicker the problem gets sorted!

I thoroughly enjoyed Luton Festival of Transport - much bigger and busier than I think it was last year. Weather helped too. I would love to have my Minor ready in time for next year's - subject to inner wing surgery at the moment, then it will be the chassis rails!

Just like being on MOT, one minute seemingly no one on the camp site, next minute opened my bonnet and half the site were under it
