Please Help - I can't find a garage to mot my moggy

Post by belle1979 »

Dear all,

My mog has been idle for 6 months because I've been snowed under at work and the garages I've tried to ring to mot her (Croydon and Lewisham) never seem to have anyone there/return my messages. I am based in South London (Herne Hill) does anyone know anywhere else I can try? I am desperate to get her mot'd and back on the road as she's in good condition she just needs her form ticked.

I'd be so grateful for any help.

I would have thought any garage with the MOT sign outside would welcome the business. Check your local yellow pages, but make sure someone takes it who knows a bit about cars, so you don't get fobbed off with work that doesn't really need doing. :)

There will be an official 'council' MOT station too. They charge full rate and don't do ANY repairs, but they will be very fair.

I have been going to Mersh Brothers of Lewisham for the last eighteen years. They do not do repairs so have no interest in failing you to get more business and they advise me of any small faults without failing me.
Their details are: Mersh Bros, 16A Algernon Road, Lewisham, London, SE13 7AT Phone: 0208 692 2844. ( tell them that the old bloke with the dark green Minor convertible sent you)

Hi - try ringing Richard at Autoclutch in South Norwood on 020 8771 0423. The garage is right opposite the entrance to Norwood Junction BR station so very handy.

He's an old school mechanic and has been looking after my Traveller for the last few years. He doesn't do MOT's himself but it's usually worth my while in getting him to give it a pre MOT inspection and then take it in for me.
