Anyone got any birds-eye/shell views of 4 door saloons?

Post by Chief »

Hi,
Strange request here, I wondered if anyone had any top-down birds-eye photographs of a 4 door 1000, with the camera focused around about the very centre of the top of the roof.

Reason I'm asking is I'm attempting to make a 3d model of a Minor, but the only top down view I've found so far is an engineering design, and it's not quite right, there are bits missing from it which makes the shape of the car change somewhat (also a photograph will have depth to it, which would be handy) :D

I did try taking a top-down pic of a toy, but unfortunately I've mislaid my camera somewhere, so had to use the in-built camera on my phone, and the result was a nice blob of pixels

I can take side, front and rear pics of my own car but no way to get a top-down view suitable for modeling, though if you're feeling generous and want to post these views along with a top-down view....

Thanks,
Chief :)

Chief, they never made a four-door convertible. The only way to get the view you want is to cut the roof off a four door saloon!

I think the term 'top down' means the angle of the camera ( a picture taken from the top pointing down) rather than a convertable with its top down.
I think the photo of a model with a good camera is probably the way to go. Would like to help but all my models are travellers

as Rob says, a picture from the top pointing down.

A picture of a 2-door would probably be fine if anyone has one.

You can take excellent bird's eye views of cars from the walkway above the parking area on the seafront end of the L2B - I only have convertibles but someone might have a saloon :)

This must be possible.

Perhaps

1- Park car nearly under a bridge with an accomplice to lean out and take the picture.

2- an arrangement of ladders and planks and a time delay on the camera?

3 - Park under a tree and climb up the tree

4 - Some one with a car roller

5 - Microlight club request

6 - Wires and pulleys

7 - park under an aerial zip line

8 - camera on a long pole at a fixed angle

9 - park the car inside a barn or warehouse

10 - hot air balloon

11 Cherry picker at a hire shop

12 two scaffold towers and a board

It must be possible I just don't have a Morris 1000!

Yes please, that would be great thanks :D
but does this help?
hehe, I see we both had the same toy car  Much clearer than mine came out as (still can't find my camera anywhere!) and yes it does help so thanks also :)

Edit: Found the camera, then the usb socket fell off my wifi-card, which is now held in place with an elastic band to my pc case - isn't it all fun and games? :D

My car from the National Rally Display day on the weekend, thanks to the "Brisbane Wheel", but it's not quite directly above, and my bumper's crooked!

Don't have any pics I am afraid, nice to hear of somebody making a 3D model of a Minor though.

(I too have that little model car btw!)

The resolution would be too bad, except for places where you can zoom to street level and then you'd need to know precisely where a morris minor would always be parked, because of google earth always being out of date.

To continue this thread, anyone got any pictures of just the shell of a minor from various viewpoints (side, rear, front, top, 3/4 view etc) because I just can't get the shape right - it's currently looking like some form of muatant A35 meets minor

I once tried to make a 3D Model of a Minor... didn't end too well, I made 1 half of a Series 3 Land Rover instead!

I imagine with such a curvy shape as a Minor you would have to leave alot of it to sight and guesswork, tweaking 'till the shape looks right...
