Scrappage scheme sir? That will be £2500.00 extra.
Just in case anybody is thinking of taking a nearly dead Minor in.
Called into two Renault dealers on Wednesday with my 11year old Primera. The car I was looking at had a screen price of £10995.00. At the first dealer I stood in the show room for 10 mins. before a member of staff asked if I was waiting to see a sales person. On answering yes she said she would get somebody for me, after another 5 mins. of waiting I walked out. At the second dealer a sales person came over immediately, they had the same car at the same screen price in the show room. When I asked about the car I was told '' that price is a special offer on cars registered in April. If you want to use the scrappage scheme the car would be a May registration and the price would be £13495.00.''
Car dealers don't you love em.

Fiat are runnning an advert on local radio.
Cheapest new Panda is £6999 and they are reducing price by £1000.
You then have £2000 scrapage allowance leaving £3999 to be paid over 4 years on interest free credit.
Sounds too good to be true - brand new car for £3999 !
If I could afford the monthly payment I'd have been seriously interested.

That Fiat deal doesn't sound right. They are running a special promotion on their cheapest Panda for £4,995 which includes a £1,000 scrappage discount and £1,000 discount from Fiat (my 'modern' car is a Fiat so just got sent all the promotional bumpf). Repayments are at 6.5% though, not 0%. Not a bad price though if you can afford to buy outright.

If manufacturers 'sign up' to the scheme (it's not compulsory), they're not allowed/supposed to be selective about including or excluding individual models.HUMBLEPIE wrote:A lady I work with looked into doing a deal for a Fiat 500 scrapping her Volvo and was told by the dealer that as Fiat have no trouble selling the 500 they would't do a scrappage deal, though they might do it later in the year if sales slow. She understood this was a Fiat dirctive.
