18 Minors in all from 1954 - 1971, including two late Adderley Park travellers. We were joined by a beautiful pre-war Minor and William's gorgeous Landcrab, fresh from his son's wedding in Girton. There was also a nice Morris Cowley pick up and an early beige MO
Great-looking line up. My bias towards split-screens remains, so I particularly like the two convertibles parked either side of Neddy. The beige (Gascoyne Grey?) MO Oxford looks superb too. Considering one as my 60th birthday prezzie. MS Six preferred but rarity (unicorns, hen's teeth and rocking-horse doo-doo) mean unlikely!

PB whilst some parts were common, the chap said he has had to make most body panels himself as the MO did / does not enjoy the popularity or numbers that the minor has. There bits have come from scrap cars when needed, but supplies, never plentiful, are dwindling. That said it was beautiful !

It was a really good day, warm but not too hot, occasional drizzle, excellent coffee, ice cream and bacon sandwiches, (not all together!) I am dribbling remembering them. The nice thing about the show is that its is community based, informal and on the Common with many different cars , classic and modern. So much to see!

Hope all is well with Max

Or perhaps not so lastly..... supplied by Steve Hazon (He of the lovely blue modified pick -ip which scooped so many awards at the National - apparently no one wants to park next to him now - lol! ) and David Pittman of North London and Middlesex. Thanks to you both.

Not spotted in person, but saw a photo of it....
I was out at a business networking meeting last night and one of our new members has just started an independent vehicle maintenance business; we were talking about how things were going and he mentioned a more unusual customer's vehicle that had come in was a Morris Minor Van on a Aug '72 (L) Plate so must be one of the last examples
The guy was impressed the van was older than he was and he had to work from the Owner's BL Manual to fix the brakes; starting with finding the Master Cylinder under the floor!
He already services the Owner's other more modern cars, so the Moggie might become a regular visitor...

Any forum members taken their Van in for work recently in the greater Lincoln area? :D :D

Spotted today on Chester Road South in Kidderminster... Nice green pick-up XBY***G

Also, near Bewdley Hill, a strange beast... either a South African built Austin Apache or a Spanish built Authi Victoria (same car, both based on the Austin/Morris 1100/1300 with Dolomite influenced styling by Michelotti).

Look it up on Wikipedia and the first car pictured looks like the same one I saw... certainly same navy blue with white roof :)

Interesting selection of cars today at the Thornfalcon meet near Taunton ( don't think I've seen so many Triumph Heralds in one place before, but no estates, but if they all rusted like my mum's estate I'm not surprised!). Good select Of Minors like the ones below.

Near Lowestoft today (won't say exactly where for security reasons although they are in the guys front garden for all to see) and spotted 3 Fords that I think are Model A, circa 1929/30 including 2 pickups!

From the Hempstead Classic Car gathering. Good company, all for charity, with excellent Saffron Brewery Beer (from the Bluebell), Saffron Ice Cream, a Hog Roast and of course Minors et al.

Was over in Lowestoft last week and yesterday was at the furthest point East in the UK, on the seafront. Arrived just as this Austin A95 Westminster was being driven back through the gates having been getting photographed on the other side, presumably with the North Sea in the background.

...and with optional extra overdrive if the boot badge is to be believed. I love these cars. Had one briefly in the late 80's. Two-tone blue but no overdrive. Sadly it got into a street-brawl with a Honda Civic piloted by an intoxicated t*er. It never recovered :(

Thanks for posting this one GB :D

Thanks PB. I had a very brief word with the owner, he told me it was a '59 (though I just looked up the Reg and DVLA say '58), which I believe was near the end of production. he said he gad an old Cambridge back at home too. Unfortunately he was in a rush to get off, but he was wearing a polo shirt with a 'Classic' club logo; I didn't get a good enough look at which one, and there's a few in East Anglia.

Most dealers used to be allocated blocks of numbers by the local registration authority. Usually 20 at a time. EAR was Sep to Dec '58. Possibly allocated in Dec '58 but the car not delivered/first taxed/declared until Jan '59 which IIRC was the last month of A95/A105 production anyway.

Just got the September issue of Practical Classics. It was an Austin Apache. There's a resto feature on the very same car. Owner lives about 30-ish miles away.
