1953 Morris minor pickup in Lakelands MM

Post by davidmiles »

My friend Richard Searle send me a few images of a Pickup he saw at the Lakelands Motor Museum, He sent them to my facebook page, but he's happy for them to appear on here. 1953 a good year for Morris Minors, judging by this one.

Is that the place where they have a selection of "Bluebirds" cars and boats? Always fancied a trip there might have to make the effort now I know theres a Minor there! Is it a "genuine" pick up? are they not supposed to have an extra ridge along the top of the body?

They are and it probably does, just that its covered by the bottom of the canvas tilt. The ridge is right under the lip of the top capping, and you are right, its absence is good indication of a cut down van.

That's a pretty colour and it goes really well with the tilt. That's interesting matting they've got in the footwells too.

The link matting had a dust sheet clipped to the underside and protected the carpets. OJO has the same kind of matting.
