radiator top hose
Hi Guys.
Bought a radiator top hose for my Traveller from G.S.Jones a couple of weeks ago.
Fitted it two days ago and ran the car upto temprature, found out that the hose had a small split in it that was there from new.
This sprayed water on to the fan which in turn distributed it everywhere else.
Tried to contact G.S.Jones but there is no telephone number on their website, just e-mail address.
Sent them two e-mails over two consecutive days and they have still failed to respond.
MY FAVOURITE CAR IS A DATSUN CHERRY customer services then ?? it would apperar so, and MY FAVOURITE CAR IS A DATSUN CHERRY product too.
Moral of the story?? dont order stuff from G.S.Jones.
I have just ordered a kevlar lined product from Bull Motif and it was cheaper.
Anyone had any simular issues??

Re: radiator top hose
hi.
You know what chaps i cant be bothered to ring em, specially not Shrewsbury.
If they cant be bothered to contact me to rectify the situation why should i waste my time and money contacting them.
Effective customer service wouldnt allow this to take place.
I am in the process of restoring my Traveller, so they have lost a customer, yes so what is only one customer, but in these times we live in every customer counts right??

Re: radiator top hose
I'm not sure the Kevlar hose is a good idea....., I think there have been some life problems reported with them....
But Bull Motif have always been v good for me!

Re: radiator top hose
recommend ESM with good praise. order before 6 pm and get next day delivery. I would also recommend that you order silicone hoses- as BMC says the kelvar ones are pretty bad.
Re: radiator top hose
must admit kevlar are not the best, but sometimes needs must. Anyone have any feedback regarding the silicone hoses yet?

Re: radiator top hose
Kevlars better than one with a manufacturing hole in it.
May considering changing them at a later date but for now i just want to get everything up and running so it will sufice.

Re: radiator top hose
I think the silicon hoses pretty much last 'for ever'. I haven't tried them, relying on good old rubber hoses!

Re: radiator top hose
I seem to remember having a hell of a job fitting a Kevlar hose, I think it was a bottom hose

Re: radiator top hose
It would seem that you get the holes free of charge when bying from G.S.Jones.
Got new hose this morning, gonna try to fit it this aft, will use a bit of washing up liquid and see how it goes, will keep you posted.

Re: radiator top hose
If you have problems try soaking it in a bucket of warm - not too hot water to soften it up a bit!

Re: radiator top hose
Fitted hose in mins, bit of washin up liquid n bobed straight on.
Now that problems out of the way anyone know how to test your dynamo??
My ignition light stays on so its not charging the battery.
I know its either the Regulator box or dynamo.
Anyway of checking either before going out and buying both??

Re: radiator top hose
To test dynamo - pop the belt off, take the two wires off and temporarily join the two terminals of the dynamo with a length of cable - then touch the cable to the non-earth terminal of the battery. If the dynamo is good it will run as a motor. The most likely problem is worn brushes in the dynamo.

Re: radiator top hose
Take the back off the dynamo and check the brushes. A hell of a lot cheaper than a new dynamo

Re: radiator top hose
There is nothing wrong with a kevlar hose. There is a problem with one brand of hoses sold for many classics. They are terrible. A poor quality rubber with a kevlar content consisting of bit of kevlar rather than a layer. These cheap hoses have a white sticker saying "kevlar reinforced - made in England". High quality rubber hoses should last for ages and are usually EPDM rubber sometimes with a layer of kevlar or similar. Silicone hoses are very nice and they don't stick to metal parts so come off easily.

Re: radiator top hose
Check the dynamo brushes before buying a dynamo, they could be worn, or sticking
Our other car is a 2009 Citroen C6 3.0 HDi a 'future classic' and far rarer than a Morris Minor!!
The 'moggie' has been replaced with another 'classic' a 1953 Citroen Traction Avant 11BL
