tragic death......
a good friend of mine who used to post on here a few times, has sadly gone. dellerie, who was a friend for many years, died in a tragic accident last sunday whilst doing what he liked the most, working on his car.
whilst working underneath it gave way even though axle stands were in use as well as the trolley jack. he never made it to hospital as it took a while for him to be discovered.
his split screen will be finished and sold off for funds to give to his favourite charity.

Re: tragic death......
Very sorry to hear that terrible news.
As BMC says, take care when working under your car. I use several axle stands and the jack and wheels/ tyres as well if they are off the car.

Thoughts are with family and friends.
This is the third death I know of this year of enthusiasts working underneath cars. Let's all be extra careful and make sure there's no more

Sad tale.
I wonder what specifically went so wrong, when he would appear to have taken sensible precautions.

ampwhu I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend in such tragic circumstances, my sympathies go out to his family and friends.
Re: tragic death......
I have suggested in another thread, that if the car can't be put up on ramps - they do make a very secure support if placed under the bodyshell when the car is jacked up - a slab of timber on top helps too. Please everyone pay attention to this tragic accident, and next time you jack up your car - remember what happened to dellerie.

Condolences from here too.
What on earth caused the car to come off the stands?

So sorry to hear this news I'm so so shocked!!
I meet Alan (Dellerie) when he sold me his A30 engine,
A really nice guy, and such a shame,
If I can help in anyway, just say!
Sad times
