Period accessories.
I wonder if they will break down like the white bumpers that Triumph Heralds used to have?
They would leave white marks on any clothing that brushed against them.

If they had been VERY cheap I'd have bought them just as a curiosity (and maybe put 'em on the front of TFM to see what reaction I got)

Re: Worst accessory ever made and advertised on Ebay
Some folk like em! Very exclusive and more practical than chrome ones which dent.... Mine survived a head on collision with a Corsa a few years back - had to replace the font end of the van but the rubber overriders lived to fight another day!
I can think of plenty worse accesories than these

I get very little reaction with mine. Occaisional 'what are those off?' and maybe the odd pitying lookTFM150K wrote:If they had been VERY cheap I'd have bought them just as a curiosity (and maybe put 'em on the front of TFM to see what reaction I got)

Re: Worst accessory ever made and advertised on Ebay
As I said, I can think of plenty worse than rubber overiders, such as the headlamp peaks and sunvisors. At least rubber overiders do something useful.
And for naffest of the naff, how about traffic light coloured pedal rubbers to help remind you which ones which
Red for stop, green for go, amber for clutch.... I found these on a scrap '53 saloon and immediately rescued them for my convertible of the same age. I can vaguely remember seeing ad for them in an old (60's) copy of Practical Motorist, though anyone who actually needed them quite clearly shouldn't have been sat in the drivers seat of a car...
Always good for a laugh at MOT time though [frame][/frame]
Hmm, must get round to making up some fresh new carpets for that car....

The price for those pedal rubbers should have been one driving licence!

Re: Worst accessory ever made and advertised on Ebay
Yes the van lives again and has done many miles since. It's usually the daily driver but I'm kinder to the Minors these days and use the sacraficial Renault 5 for most of the salt laden winter motoring. The van's been to the last two Minor Nationals, Beaulieu Autojumble and the LCV dos etc. Chassis was undamaged and I left the dent in the dashboard that lines up with my right knee as a reminder, though the twinge in the knee does that now and again...
The Corsa didn't survive. Didn't look too bad although the transmission was broken somewhere (no drive) but the big crease in the roof just behind the drivers door was a bit final.
The rubber overiders went on the replacement bumper and I did carefully straighten out and restore the original numberplate which is an oddity on that van being the correct 3 1/8" letters but on old stock deeper 3 1/2" sized backing plates - presumably the dealer or number plate maker using up old stock backing plates on commercials where they'd be more likely to get away with it. Bit anoraky but I thought it worth preserving. (I've got quite a bit of history with that van, orig bill of sale, enamelled dealers plate on kick plate etc).

Re: Worst accessory ever made and advertised on Ebay
Well, only 5 hours left to grab the chance of joining the exclusive rubber overider club! Actually I'd baulk at paying £25 + £8 postage Think mine were a tenner off an autojumble stall about ten years ago and I hesitated thenirmscher wrote:Ian you still haven't convinced me they are a good buy

Re: Worst accessory ever made and advertised on Ebay
I guess phoning round the Minor specialists and Halfords may be a little fruitless, if not embarassing! Probably a product confined to the back pages of early 60s Practical Motorist etc.bmcecosse wrote:I do LIKE the coloured pedal rubbers! Don't suppose anyone sells them now....?

Clearly they don't win the "Worst accessory ever made" award
I think Pifco made some pretty naff stuff back in the day, I have an interior fan that I've never considered fitting, someone will have though.
