Diddy dash cam for a Minor!

Post by Oldmogman »

Could anyone recommend a dash cam compact enough not to restrict visibility through the Minor's small screen?

(I'm guessing this would probably be one without a display screen.)

And any information about its features as well as reliability, quality and value for money would also be appreciated.

Thanks all

Love all the dash cam videos uploaded to YouTube, especially from Russia. Russians are completely mad behind the wheel, they're as crazy as a box of frogs.

Just mount it on the top edge of the windscreen near the mirror.

hi
I found mine via E Bay, just type in
2.5 inch HD dashboard Camera with night vision IR DVR ,[/b] you should find
its sold for less tham £10 ,its fantastic, with recording times of 3-15 minutes recorded onto a HD card
it also comes with a lithium battery and all the leads, you will need to buy a SD card to record onto, I think for what it does its really good, also the suction device is much better than the one on my TomTom, you will need to wire in a cigarette lighter output from your Minor if you have not done so already but the setting up is really easy, I don`t find it affects my vision. I should point out I have no connection with the seller but i did give them 5 stars re feedback :D

Thanks Noel

I checked out your recommendation and noticed that the LCD screen seems to fold flat, which makes it smaller. However, it's difficult to judge the size. It would be great if you could post a pic of the camera in situ in your car, so we could get an idea of the scale?

I also had a look on Techmoan and came across this, which seems very compact. However, I was looking for something with a suction mount (rather than one glued to the screen) so I could use it in my daily driver, too.

Any ideas? Is there such thing as a universal suction mount out there?

If you wanted a device which is still small, but provides GPS data, you could look at something like this - has sharp image quality as well as all of the G-sensor and GPs features. I've got mine on the passenger's side of the rear view mirror, and turns on (& starts recording) when the ignition is turned on.

Hi Oldmogman- re your request
I have taken a picture from the car I am using this week for work not my Minor, but you should get the general idea, sorry about the quality, the screen does fold up as you already guessed
The suction holder is very good, the camera takes up less space than an ordinary sat nav.

Many thanks for the pic, Noel.

The camera looks bigger than I expected - even in the large windscreen of a modern car! It must dwarf the screen of a Minor!

Is this the typical size of most dash cams?

Thanks again
