Just been sorting some gear to sell.I have a complete 948 engine here thats not seized but will probably need a rebuild.I noticed that on the other side of the rocker cover to the Austin/Morris plate(sorry cant remember which without uncovering it again)there was another plate with "Weslake".Is this just standard,i.e what would have been on the rocker cover normally?Its just that the name seems to revive memories of tuning/racing.Sorry if I'm being thick.

Westlake patents were incorporated into the BMC 'A' Series and that is why the Westlake plate was attached.
If I remember correctly those patents were relative to the head design.

Yes - Weslake supposedly developed the heart shaped combustion chamber with the hefty 'squish' action the peak produced ensuring good fuel distribution within the incoming air charge.
