Point missed again. Why does every move have to be explained. I mentioned main dealers as it could well be the alternative course taken if a specialist was not satisfactory. Therefore I simply pointed out that there are downfalls in this alternative as well, not only cost but, in my case an arrogant attitude, and who knows maybe the same lack of knowledge. So maybe not so off topic!

Hello I was wandering if anyone could help. My mum is 50 on 9th June. Her favourite car is the Morris minor, it's her dream to go in one. I am having trouble finding one that we can use for a few hours. Ones I have found are £200/300 to hire. There's no way I can afford that for,but am desperate to have her ride in one. I live in Barnstaple north Devon, Does anyone live in my area that for a price could take my mum,dad and myself out? Even if it's just for a couple hours, go for a cream tea and then home again. It would make her day so special. Fingers are crossed.

Try contacting the Devon and Cornwall branch. Good luck. :D

Did you ever think or wonder?????????

Just maybe the Morris Minor specialist was a friend or the past owner.
I know it always amazes me what the previous owners do to vehicles.
How many people have you heard own up to mickey mousing some thing?
The owner i got the van from told me he never did any thing to the van.
In some ways i believe it is true -
When i got the van it needed every thing replaced or rebuilt.
But some one did some very creative repairs on my van..
Some genius used house wire nuts on the wires.
There was even a spliced in telephone wire to the gas sending unit.
Other wires started out green/ white and end up solid red or other colors.
I must have pulled out 30 feet of wire that was not connected on either side.
That was not counting the speaker wires that ran every where with nothing on the ends.
After Two and a half years it is finally on the road and a daily driver.
I use the van every day for odd jobs and camping so i did not do a total restoration.
Just went through everything to make it safe and fun to drive.

You what they say....
It is your lie you can tell it anyway you like.........

My money is on the previous owner as the bad mechanic.

The obvious truth is that, after all these years, there have been plenty of opportunities for owners, slack mechanics and, sadly, even some 'specialists' to have carried out questionable and, at times, shocking bodge jobs. Many, many years ago, one of the very well known specialists offered to treat my car - which I had only recently purchased (since deceased, sadly) - to a 'beneficial' waxoil. I was really cross to find they had simply drilled holes in the kickplates to inject the waxoil. I can't remember what they charged for this little dodge but it was a waste of time anyway as I later found the sills and parts of the floor needed replacing anyway. :-?
