Anti Theft Devices, Hints and Tips

I have read a lot about cars being stolen, not just on here but also elsewhere. So i thought I would write down my ideas.

PARKING IN A GARAGE
You might think it's safe leaving your car in a garage but it's SO easy for a thief to open the door close it behind himself and spend a few seconds hot wiring the ignition and driving off all without being seen.
If you rent a garage then there is more chance as they are out of sight.

1.... Install a garage lock, the type that is cemented into the ground and fitted with a good lock.
2.....Fit a DISKLOK, if they get in they will need a battery angle grinder to remove it which takes about 3 minutes but creates noise.
3.....Turn the steering so they can't push the car out with DISKLOK fitted.
4.....Fit a hidden toggle switch that is taken from the points wire.
5.....Fit an easy fit alarm that has current sensing, if they try to start the engine the current sensing will set the alarm off. TECH 7 ALARM.
6.....Maybe over the top for some people, but fit a shot gun mine that fires blanks, attack the wire to the door.

PARKING ON YOUR DRIVE
Again a lot of elderly folk have had there cars taken from drives.

1....Fit a collapsible post in your drive, If you have gates put a chain around it at night.
2....Fit a DISKLOK, again turn the steering so they cant push it off the drive.
3....Fit a TECH 7 ALARM, this is easy to fit as it only has 2 wires also has a red flashing light.
4....Fit a toggle switch from the points wire to the coil.
5....Fit a wheel clamp to the wheel nearest the house, if you reverse in then put on back wheel as they will lift front up and vice versa.

PARKING IN ROAD OVERNIGHT
If you have to leave your car by the side of the road try and park it outside your house or under a lamp post. Thieves don't like light.

1....Fit a DISKLOK it's a must have device.
2....Fit a TECH 7 ALARM with current sensing or similar with flashing light.
3....Fit a wheelclamp MACHINE MART do a cheap one but does the job.
4....Fit toggle switch.
5....Buy a tracker, MAPLIN do a good one, just need to get a 2G sim card and when you text it it will text its location back. hide it under the carpet and charge it every week or wire it directly to your battery.

If you just go to the shop always use the DISKLOK and toggle switch and ALARM.
