It will probably be the same basic engine as the DKW, Wartburg etc. Really good engine, if a little smokey. Very tuneable! 3 cyl 2-stroke, feels (and pulls) like a 6 cyl 4 stroke. No distributor, 3 sets of points and 3 coils. Vacuum operated fuel pump which failed when the diaphragm split. Usually solved, coincidentally, by fitting a MM electric pump.

I think what you are talking about is the Hanomag Partner. See German wikipedia for pictures. Only a few prototypes were built at Karmann in Osnabrueck for Hanomag. Unfortunately it never went to the assembly lines.
